You’re sick of Big4, not of the Middle East.
Get a divorce, move back, problem solved.
I worked in the ME. Big 4 and industry. Like someone said above, you hate the Big4 work life not the ME. I switched to industry and never went back. FYI your story about wlb, burning out, and poor pay is the same for Big4 employees in the US as well
Salary wise, it is not that great as well. The same lifestyle I had in my home town is expensive here and is not leaving us with any considerable savings! My husband was born and brought up in ME and seems to think ME is the best. He is also not earning that well here but has work life balance and fascinated by the lifestyle and comfort. I am going nuts thinking my life would have been much peaceful if I had not moved to ME and am missing the working culture in my home country where people are very understanding and open minded. My husband doesn't seem to get it. I wish for a life where I am paid good while having a work life balance. I am ready to work hard but not more than 10 hours daily (considering 8 hours is the norm, this is also too much). Sometimes I feel like smacking his head to throw the obliviousness off of him! His spending habits are also not in alignment with his salary. He doesn't exceed his salary but leaves us with very little savings. This is not sustainable for our future for when we start a family. I am searching for jobs vehemently but meritocracy is not given any value here. All government jobs (very good wlb) are reserved for locals and other jobs have way too less salary and shitty wlb. I am convinced this region is deadly for me and my life goals. But I feel stuck here coz of my husband. I feel the resentment creeping in!

He thinks ME is the best? Maybe just take him on a trip to Europe? Should solve it.
Honestly, these seem like marriage problems, not necessarily ME problems.
