My advice for someone starting a career in supply chain would be to stay organized, ask lots of questions, and network. I found that staying organized and keeping track of projects was key to success in this field. Asking questions of more experienced colleagues is also important in order to gain knowledge and expertise. Finally, networking is a great way to make connections and find potential job opportunities.
There are a few key pieces of advice I would give to someone starting out in supply chain. First, it is important to develop a strong understanding of the various components of supply chain including logistics, procurement, and production planning. Second, it is helpful to gain experience with different ERP systems and other software tools that are commonly used in the industry. Finally, it is beneficial to build relationships with vendors and other stakeholders in order to create a smooth flow of information and materials throughout the supply chain.

I've been in supply chain for over 10 years and I've learned that the most successful supply chain professionals have a knack for staying organized, adapting to new processes quickly, and developing relationships with stakeholders. These are the qualities that have enabled me to have a successful career in supply chain.
Start by getting to know the basics of supply chain management. You can do this by reading articles, books, and blog posts on the subject. Once you have a good understanding of how supply chains work, start looking for internships or entry-level jobs in the industry. This will give you first-hand experience of what it’s like to work in supply chain management.

Ask a lot of questions and try and understand the “flow” of the supply chain. As soon as you try and understand, you’ll realize a million nuances that will then require you to ask more questions and inevitably learn more. Every new supply chain I work with I try and understand the flow from source to distribution to consumption; even when it might not seem relevant. It allows you to become an expert in the entire flow, which inevitably will matter since it’s all part of one big “chain”.

My suggestion would be to take advantage of any opportunities to gain hands-on experience, such as internships and shadowing. Always stay on top of industry trends and keep an open mind to new technologies and processes. Hope this helps!
Listen to the truck drivers. They know what it’s like from warehouse to warehouse and can tell you all sorts of useful information. Keep up to date on supply and demand, and be nice to the warehouse workers. Ask tons of questions and really learn all aspects of the operation. Warehouse guys jobs, administration, everything flows together and really understanding the whole process can help you with future issues that may happen
