What advice should I give someone who wants to make a career change from marketing/strategy into copywriting?

Is it likely they can break into an agency without doing the whole process of portfolio school, making a book, and applying as an intern/junior?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.

Ex-consultant now in marketing. Used to be an avid follower here and got great insights on companies when trying to exit consulting so thought I’d try here for advice. Outside of FAANG, what are good large CA-based tech companies that provide good pay, WLB, and culture? DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? A company along those lines.

Considering pivoting into a local MM IB. As my title suggests, my technical skills aren’t as honed as one who has focused on the analysis route. How much of being an Analyst at a smaller IB is technical skill heavy coming into the role? I hold my 7, 66, 24, and am not worried about getting the 79. Any input for how realistic this is? When looking at one particular firm’s career page it doesn’t mention technical skills or modeling once, which led me to believe it may be less important than soft.

What’s a fair expectation for my first raise? Publicly traded co with ~2500 employees. I’ve been doing litigation with the company for almost 3 yrs and have only had a 2% cost of living raise so far. Graduated in 2014. Base comp is $127.5k in the Philly area. I see salaries all over the place in this site and it’s hard to tell whether mine is competitive.

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. Currently working on a three person team in a larger GC group. I lateraled from a different group that did not pay attorneys on an attorney scale.
