Anyone recently received a tax manager offer from EY ? I’m going through final interviews and want to see what your experience was like (negotiation process, initial offer higher/lower than expected?, did you give them a salary expectation range? How long did it take from final interview to offer etc) TIA!PwC EY KPMG Deloitte

Depends; are you an accountant working in tax tech like alteryx, business analyst type of role? Then the exit opportunities are limited because of your educational background; maybe try doing a masters in computer science. If you are a tech guy within tax technology, like .net developer/sql etc, lots of opportunities out there. I even saw many alteryx, power apps types of roles out there, but they require some kind of math heavy/computer sc background(not accounting math).
Damn. So tempting to do a master in cs, but it’s hard especially working full time.
UPS
Lol no they’re paying their drivers $170k
If anyone’s got an opportunity (public or industry) for I’d love to chat 😬
I’ve been in tax tech for 8+ years with most time spent at B4. Started in tax data and process automation/analytics, and then moved into product managing the development of enterprise-wide solutions and leading change management strategy and implementation. Just always curious to see what opportunities are available. You don’t know what you don’t know. The last thing you want to do is be complacent and find out too late that your skills are obsolete.
Other tax technology groups
There are industry roles out there. Not a huge number but more all the time to manage the in house technology.
I wonder if you can pivot into a product manager role?
Making things up about your “agile framework” and using all the related buzzwords and pretending your busy while working 20 hours a week seem important if my old roommate was any example
I’m in Tax tech - aren’t there opportunities in other tech-ish consulting groups/ data visualization? Haven’t looked
Are you in corptax or indirect tax? I see few opportunities here and there in industry, but they prefer hard-core tech background like CS major. For indirect tax, I will check Amazon or any FAANG or marketplace facilitor business or retailers. They usually have big data. No comments on corp tax side though. All the best.
Most of this work is handled by the tax prep firm vs in house so less opportunity for a similar role in industry. I see a fair amount of tax tech for state related junk at tech companies tho
