What are some things I need to keep in mind while going on a trip for training?

Comments here are pretty immature and gross. If you're a mature adult that's looking to gain as much out of training as possible while also enjoying parts of a new city, I say, look up your per diem and find a restaurant you want to try. Get good sleep, find a way to get some exercise. Enjoy the hotel stay and stay out of trouble!

don't forget the condoms and lube

Condoms for the young and lube for the old? Lots of age variation at these training sites who knows what you will encounter

Advice based on my new hire training at a Big 4:
—Act professional, assume that they will report your performance/activities back to your office.
If you are new to the firm and a new associate they seem to scrutinize and be extra critical.
My coworker who had previously interned did not have the same scrutiny.
They told us that some of the employees took the train into town for dinner, got drunk, didn’t make it to class in the morning, and were fired. (Likely just a scare tactic, but the reporting back to your office is a real possibility).

—Try to learn and absorb what you can. Hopefully they give you good information and resources/guidance that you can refer back to when you are working.

—Network. Spend time with the people from your office and also meet people from different offices. You might see them again at future annual trainings. And they might be able to refer you if you want to transfer offices later.

—check the policies about travel and per diem before you go. On nights where dinner is not provided you can probably expense an uber ride to go get dinner at a good restaurant (spend your dinner per diem on dinner). Recommend taking advantage of having work pay for your uber to go get whatever dinner you want, instead of eating at the more expensive hotel restaurant.

If you sign into the class go to the class, don’t turn around. You will get reported and likely fired.

What do the day to day activities of a Java developer include in a MNC?

YOE: 7
Current CTC: 20L (19 Fixed + 1 variable)
I'm a Java developer building products in networking domain. I'm strong in converting requirements into design and building products from scratch. I'm spending 12 hours everyday at work, unable to spend any time on brushing up algorithms.
I'm not happy with the money that I make for the efforts that I'm putting in, want to switch to good product company. I wish I get more time to learn and prepare for interview. Just putting my thoughts here.

Advice needed on handing in notice, I recently signed an offer letter and understand the screening process takes 4-6 weeks. I have a month's notice period and have agreed a preliminary start date in Feb.

I was planning on not handing my notice in until the checks had been completed so its all secured (not that I think I will fail any checks), but apparently I need a reference from my current employer not previous ones. Can't really do this without handing in notice can I?

Applying to roles within the same federal agency. I know you need one year within the probationary period, but can I apply to a higher GS level? For example, if I'm GS 9, receive a promotion to GS 11 at the end of probation, would i be able to apply to GS 13 roles if I'm qualified? Tried researching this for hours but only found info on applying to other agencies.

I feel like I've been lowballed, can someone explain the below breakdown please?

Base salary: 60k
Quarterly quota (per quarter): 107k
Quarterly bonus (per annum): 23k
130% Annual bonus = 11.5k
"23% commission on quota minus base": 37k (don't understand this)
"Proposed 23% commission on 150% quota minus base": 86.5k
Sales commission threshold per month: 22k
OTE: 122k
Cost/Sales: 28%

That base salary is lower than my previous base by a significant amount by 32.7%

Hi everyone, I got hired on as entry level sales operations role back in January. It quickly turned into sales, and eventually all the sales for the small company once the head of sales left. I am happy to take on the additional role for my company, and they are going to let me. But they feel that without multiple people in a sales department the title head of sales might not be the best title. I have input in what my updated position title and salary would be. What should I ask for?

Do you continue to see in-flight interview processes through once you’ve received and accepted an offer? It feels premature to cut the chord on the others, but also the decision between the companies becomes harder. Also afraid of the possibility to go back on the acceptance of the one role in favor of another.

Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.
