What are the weirdest reasons you have heard for people being laid-off? Heard someone getting laid off because of submitting wack expenses.

White guy on the NYSE got laid off some years back for calling another white guy the "n" word jokingly at a work happy hour. A summer intern complained. Think they were partly just trying to make cuts. At the time he didn't seem actually racist, however now he is voting for Trump so reevaluating.

That's not wack, that is technically stealing. Most of the out of cycle layoffs at DB I saw were because of employee misconduct

If you were laid off or fired would you apply for your current job? I was laid off from Big 4 audit in 2016 after working there for 2 years and it was one of the best things to happen to me. 1. It allowed me to reflect and decide what was important in my next career. 2. Losing a job isn’t as frightening as it seems. 3. Accountants have major job security as I got a job offer within 2 weeks. When you’re miserable at work ask yourself would you apply for your current job?

The more pedestrian your intellect, the better fit you are at D Heard of a colleague with an FRM charter being laid off today. Overall excellent person. And you won't believe who they promote year after year.. the character, curiosity and quality of the lifers Don't join this firm if you for a love of learning and to be inspired. Does anyone else feel like they’re consistently having to prove themselves every day? I don’t mean usual “trying to go above and beyond at work” I mean the nagging feeling that you might get fired if you don’t accomplish every email task or chat request that may or may not be directed to you. Constantly anxious at this job.

I am 30 and just got promoted to Senior manager. I think I am doing well but I feel I am driven more by pessimism, imposter syndrome, and fear of getting fired as opposed to a positive mindset and the desire to thrive in my career. I feel like I am suffering from some sort of a mental issue but wanted to throw it out here and get some advice to deal with this from the fishbowl fam as opposed to going to therapy. Thanks in advance for your responses!

Bit of an odd question. I am classic statistician who now leads a small Data Science team. Most of my time is running multiple projects and no time coding. I am now getting pulled into more and more large dollar proposal work typically centered around doing the same type of small scale DS projects for some DoD client but at scale ie 5-10 projects each at the same LOE of my typical projects but in the cloud.
