What do people think about maxing the 401k vs keeping the cash more liquid in a brokerage account. I know it’s more tax beneficial to do the 401K, but I don’t want to be cash poor in 5 years when I look to buy a house.

I’d assume your income will grow over the next five years and having $100k+ in retirement will be better for you.

This is an interesting point. Betting on myself in this scenario. Appreciate the advice!

I think this question is under-discussed, particularly with ramp up in home prices in so many cities.

For most people the answer should probably be ‘do both’, with how you invest your marginal dollar a function of your own time horizon, how much you need for down payment, etc.

Also you can withdraw your contributions to a Roth IRA penalty free, and up to $10k in earnings. This might make sense for you.

like

A1 said penalty free - you don’t pay penalties on withdrawing contributions from a Roth IRA.

Is there an easy/efficient way to figure out how much you've contributed to vs earned in your Roth accounts? I started contributing >20 years ago to my employer's Roth 401k and have rolled it over to a Roth IRA and moved it between multiple custodians, e.g. Fidelity, Vanguard, UBS, Personal Capital, etc. It is unclear to me how much I contributed vs how much I earned by investing it.

The purpose of doing this is I want to use $10K of it, but want to prove that the $10K is from my contribution.

Good morning!

Still trying to figure out this whole Fishbowl thing, so here goes my first post.

I would love to get into provider credentialing, but all employers I've looked at want at least 3 years of experience. So, I'm looking at Provider Network Coordinator roles, because I'm finding some of those roles don't need AS MUCH experience. I'm a RHIT, and have been working in healthcare for nearly 10 years.

Any input on employers is appreciated!

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...

Tell me your craziest experience working with a TV network. Here comes mine:

I'm American, but my family is mostly Colombian. I was told my aunt and cousins would come here for 2 weeks. But of course, it's all fake and payed 😂 turns out she wanted me to go there (even though I don't work for that TV network) so she's sure she'll be paid at the end of the show. Wth did I just do.
