Let your manager know it was not planned and out side of your working hours.
Sounds like people have different working hours, that needs to be clear to everyone.
Your manager should have your back though and be making it clear to said people that they can ask to schedule something when you're available or just leave you a note and you can get back to them when you're online.
Bestie?
I'd take it as a sign that they are ok with working outside standard hours. Which means.. I'd call them around dinner time about a concept that I came up with around that time.

Especially if you don't report to this person, it's completely unreasonable for you to be able to meet with a five minute notice. I won't even schedule within an hour, inside of business hours, unless I have already checked with the person and it's necessary. If it's outside of your approved business hours, it's also not okay unless you agree to it in advance. I'll meet outside of my business hours but I prefer a conversation and a few days notice.
Imagine starting your day with a message from your manager telling you that X said you missed a 'meeting' in the morning, when there was no meeting scheduled, It's so unprofessional.
I told my manager, I even have a Calendly with my availabilities in my Slack profile, I don't know why some people think Slack is a tool for organizing meetings on the fly.
Ideally "former co-worker".
I had this situation happen. I sent my manager a note right away to avoid being thrown under the bus. Sounds childish but in corporate I have learned to CYA. I have a good manager that is supportive and aligns that last minute requests are unprofessional and often not effective.
