Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

Change your job or current position, or start building some boundaries. I heard this definition of burnout somewhere "it's an excess of effort without proper remuneration". Remuneration is not just money, it can be fulfillment or satisfaction. You are either working hard or working for long and not getting enough in return.
Address whatever part of the equation you can:
- Don't work as hard, find ways to allow chill time.
- Work less hours. These two are often due to understaffing or poor management, address these issues internally.
- Ask to get remunerated, whatever it is you need. A raise? a promotion? recognition? meaningful results (ie. working on a project you like)? Approach management with how you feel, what you expect, and any positive proposals for change. Possibly, they won't do shit; but that'll become further proof that you need to leave— in case you didn't have enough already.
Highly recommend carving out time to exercise. As if your life depends on it. Make it THE most important thing you do.
Right there with you. Never been this burnt out before. I honestly don’t know what I can do to fix it aside from quitting completely and taking an extended period away.
Going through the same thing. I was laid off due to “restructuring” almost six months ago, and the past few months I haven’t felt the drive and passion I had before. Feel burned out and the idea of getting back into the grind of constant deadlines, creative pressure, and fires to put out isn’t appealing to me. Thinking I need a life change, as well as a different mindset towards design. Trying to figure out what I want the next phase of my life to look like.
I’m trying to exercise and journal which helps at least for a bit. But I have been feeling completely gutted every evening and full of dread and anxiety every morning. I’m the sole provider for my family and that pressure just adds to my hopelessness. We have some new leadership and reorganization going on which is making me feel vulnerable, diminished, and misunderstood. I can’t tell if it’s just uncomfortable right now or if this is a major warning sign.
You need to reclaim some of your time to pursue the things that truly move you.
i fuckin broke the other weekend. just a low point from a couple years of unfulfilling bullshit. i came out of it, weirdly, less jaded but absolutely sure I need a new job. +1 to the remuneration guy.
