Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?

I think a lot of people are leaving money on the table by not negotiating for non-cash benefits. Things like PTO, flexibility in terms of working from home, stock options and other things like that. You never know what you could get unless you ask.
I’ve never thought to negotiate stock options, to me more flexibility has always been priority.
Benefits
True I think it’s easy to overlook.
You are likely to get told no for everything you try to negotiate on. Doesn’t mean to not try, just know that not every negotiation will be in your favor.
So just try for as much as possible?
