What do you usually expect from the "tell me about yourself" question? Is it fine if I just tell a little bit about myself just to break ice and then wait for the follow up questions to come or should I anticipate and prepare some points?

I always recommend preparing. Think of it as your headline, not small talk. A clear 60 to 90 second story that connects your background to the role helps the interviewer know what to ask next and sets the tone for the whole interview.

Start with a 60–90 second overview that links your path to the role you’re targeting. Don’t list your resume—connect the dots. Think: past (what you’ve done), present (what you’re focused on), future (why this role).

To be entirely honest, I hate asking that question and quit asking a while ago because too many people lose me in that first couple minutes rambling on about things either I have already read on their resume or too much personal information that I don't want to or shouldn't know. If you must answer it, think brief elevator pitch and tie it to why you're interested in that specific job you're interviewing for at that particular company.

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Some of these matters are multi-plaintiff and multi-defendant cases, but none are class actions. This does not include any matters I am handling in the charge stage or in pre-litigation. Not sure if that’s a typical caseload or not?

My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!
