Having been as assistant myself, I cannot even imagine the gall required just to speak to anyone higher up than me about anything at all. This is really next level.
Ohh I have a few out of pocket things that’s come from both coworkers and patients in a pt clinic:
“Why do you people wear those weaves from other people’s heads? Thats so weird, Id never do that”
“Why are YOUR people still upset from things that happened over 300 years ago?”
[Wore my hair in a high pouf] Patient: “Ohh, Ive never liked Afros. They just look so tacky”
“I guess you don’t have to worry about blacking out (uniform) since you’re black everyday, right?”
[During black history month] “So I don’t get why I can’t say the ‘n’ word, y’all say it” / “Well my grandson is half black so he’s allowed to say it, right?”
“Okay, but do blacks even know when they tan because it doesn’t look any different… or does it?”
Patient: Tries to touch my natural hair Me: “please don’t touch my hair” Patient: Waits until I turn around and touches my hair anyway. “Ohh wow, your hair is so soft” Me: 👁👄👁 “Yes… what were you expecting?” Patient: “Well you know… I just thought it would be hard or rough 🤷♂️”

From a white female patient : “Can I ask you a question and you don’t get mad?” Knowing the question is going to be offensive.
Me: Okay.
Patient: “Why are your lips so full?” No bigger than an average women’s of ethnic features. I responded with I born with passion.
Why do they feel privileged to say or ask whatever is on their mind? This is not 1930 or 40s.
I had a nurse walk pass and squeeze my bun bc she wanted know if it was my hair bc my hairstyles are frequently changing.
I would have reported it to HR so quickly. I hope you did also
