Wouldn’t you want to annualize the value over the expected life of the asset? Doesn’t really allow for meaningful comparisons if you don’t. At any rate:

2017 BMW X1 (55K) - TC 170K - Atlanta - 32%

Calling BS on this whole thing. 24 and TC $170k? Lmao

I grew up in a shop and love cars. I’ll be the first to say that as I get older cars don’t seem to have much value. In a perfect world I’d have a electric car and a restored classic with modern drivetrain.

2017 Audi A4 (30K) - Virginia
I make 135k base so 22%

I read the thread wrong- well I put down a lot for down payment and I’m about to pay it all off in 1.5 years

0 aside from repairs, insurance, tolls and gas for 2 cars. Less than 4%. Tolls are easily 2.5% of that.

2010? Santa Fe
2013ish Altima

2013 Lexus ES350, I pay nothing of my yearly income because I bought it outright.

2019 Hyundai Kona (24k) - TC 205K - Chicago 12% (but shared with working spouse, so 7% of household income)

Fully paid off 2008 Jeep Wrangler. I take mass transit to client site so this is generally my weekend car. I love it and it has a lot of emotional value because it was my Dads before me.

5-6%

2020 GMC Denali. 6%. drove my last vehicle for 10 years and 7 of those it was paid off.

Used 4runner for $27k. Approx 1/6 of comp but thay obviously is the entire purchase price upfront compared to the years that I'll have it.

You guys are consultants? Do a TCO analysis and a Tesla Model 3 or Y or even the S or X would be a much better deal than anything listed here not to mention great cars that keep improving (you’re not locked into a crappy UI like BMW’s)

One year old C220 amg for 32k - planning to drive for 3 years or so, resale value should be about 25k based on current pricing. Salary is 80k.

Tesla model x, 7% (paid cash, % based on household income, only one car)

2016 Hyundai Genesis, bought used for 22K. Love the car, it’s got plenty power, features, and looks much more expensive than it is

38k RAV4, 690k salary + bonus, 5.5%

0% -NYC - 2 kids.

My cars are my babies, so absolutely without a doubt way too much money. Today i spent 1100 on brakes (rotors, pads, lines, fluid). Next month will be 1300 on suspension, month after that will be 2000 on rims, then 7000 on a turbo and other toys. I probably spend 20-30% of TC on cars per year.

BMW 330Ci Vert
'80 Corvette
80k TC
NYC

Hahaha i love the responses. Im not strapped for cash guys. This is with no kids, not counting my wife's income. My 401k is fully funded, and until today my other accounts looked fine. i dont live in Manhatten, and i dont spend money on anything else. But your concern is appreciated

I live in Washington with no car and it’s absolutely amazing. I spend on average $200 a month on public transport and rental cars. For reference, parking alone in my building is $225 a month.
