Therapy is fantastic and always a great step. Before or in addition to it though I would see a naturopath or physician and get your blood work done. You might be low on nutrients which could make your symptoms worse. Either way I would consider therapy and seeing your doctor!
I recommend patients who have trouble in the colder months (if they can afford it) get a gym membership or a spa membership, or even just a day pass, and go to the jacuzzi, hot tub or sauna for at least 30 minutes. Even going 2x a month in the winter can really lift your spirits and alleviate some of that winter heaviness.
Some things that help me during the sad depressing months of winter is to turn all the lights on throughout the house. I hate the dark and I need everything bright. I like to get up and go for a walk, jog, or run in the morning as i feel this gets me up and motivated for the day. I also will burn candles that smell like flowers or the beach as well. There is also no shame in going to see a therapist for you to talk to as well as maybe give you suggestions on how to cope with its called seasonal affect disorder.
Buy one of those happy lamps! Even placebo remedies help me out. Express gratitude for the things you do have...get lost in a film or novel. Just remember there are creative ways to take you out of your slumps.
I recommend them taking Vitamin D supplements and getting more active to get those endorphin and serotonin levels up.
Uh the winter is so tough for everyone. I think light therapy helps so much. We don't give enough sunlight or light in general during the winter which contributes to our negative emotions.
