Age! I realized even though I’m still young (in my eyes) if I wanted more than one I needed to get moving sooner rather than later.
We wanted to grow our family and (let’s face it) I (F) am not getting any younger. We had steady finances, and I had put in enough time to qualify for parental leave with my employer. A lot of my friends were having difficulties with their conceptions, so we decided if it happened, then it was meant to be.
Shes 6 now, but she was a sweet surprise. I had a few years in my career by then. Everything else I figured out after she came. I decided to take a pause and be with her until 9m, a previous employer accomodated me part time for a bit until I went back to full time, and I went remote summer of 2019.
If I planned to have another now, I would act as if the baby was born and what local daycare costs were, what resources/options I would have with work or not working, etc.
Age mostly. Time is precious.
