I was told at a young age to find a job and retire with it. Long gone are the days of company loyalty and company men/women. I watched people with 20 years in a company get replaced by a fresh college grad, brand new hires make 10k more starting salary over tenured employees, and company loyalty prevent extreme monetary gains in other opportunities.
Unless you work for the government and really want that pension, gain experience and re-invent yourself every 5-7 years.
A Fortune 50 company told me if I majored in business/economics or computer science, they would hire me when I graduated. I majored in economics (which I hated), and when I graduated, they froze hiring and began layoffs for the first time in their history.

Don’t do IT. You’ll always have to reinvent yourself. Do business instead
I was given the impression that the debt I took for school (especially Iaw school) wouldn't matter because I'd be able to pay it off super quickly. News flash, unless you're in a big city in big law, you aren't starting at 6 figures!
