I agree with Claims Adjuster 1, the market is really rough right now. It doesn't hurt to be looking for opportunities, but be prepared to be looking for a bit because of how bad the job market is.

Tough choice. Is it the money that brings you joy or is it the "adventure" of helping others that does it for you? Could you ride it out to retirement and be happy? If not, then a change may be needed.

There is a lot to be said for stability right now. Do you feel you are at risk of a layoff? Because if you head into tech, even if you can find entry-level work, there is no guarantee of how long any job will last.

There is definitely no harm in looking around and seeing if you can find better than your current situation.

Yep. No way I can leave after 18 years. At year 20 I'll be at 29 days off a year plus 4 PH. Pension and 401k is good.

Question is... Can I ride it out for 13 more to get me to 48

In my organization, most with my role are commission based. I make a set salary due to the firm I work for as an account manager/ coordinator for clients… I coordinate their enrollments, working with each groups HR department as to benefits and payroll purposes, and schedule our benefit counselors accordingly. I am finding that in most cases where I compare the voluntary benefits industry, I might be underpaid. What is an appropriate base salary for a position in which commission is replaced?

I have been talking to a recruiter for a little over a month about a position. I let her know out the gate that I really wasn’t looking to change jobs, but she just kept wanting to continuing the conversation. I didn’t have 2 interviews with the hiring coming and they know that I am not really looking to make a switch. They are now working on an offer letter and I know they’re going to offer me more money. I’m having my annual review this week. Any advice on how to handle a) job offer b) review?
