OP - genuinely curious if moving from 500k to 650k is going to give you incremental happiness? Aren't both a LOT of money? I would have thought that at your level the more interesting/ impact creating role would win..
I don’t think money should be a factor either, but moving from $500k to $650k ain’t buying you a second home or ultra-luxe first in HCOL cities.

What you get in your first year is not a useful yardstick . You need to figure out what partners in that firm tend to make over 10-15 years to make this decision . 500K+ ish is very good for a first year partner in B4 and ACN/IBM .

I heard ACN first year MDs make less than $350K
Are you at a tier 1.5?
You guys are brutal, btw what is t1.5? ;)
Wow people care about “tiers” once they become PPMD’s? I thought that was a scam sold to 23 year old analysts to make them work more hours.
People stop caring at / near SM level

My guess is you are being recruited by PwC but I could be wrong. PwC (including S&) is probably one the very few “tier 2” firms that pay $650K for first year Partners.
Mentor
D3 - It’s for all first year partners. S& partners TC is same as other Advisory partners. It’s just that S& folks get to the the partnership faster on average
Take the money
Isn’t Deloitte much less than that for the first year?
Is it because of deferred comp? How does PwC pension compare to Deloitte pension?
Why not ask this in the partner bowl?
Not every firm pays on that basis, P3. Some are more heavily weighted to firm performance.
Surprised we’ve gone this far without talking about the network and clients. They’re the ones who got you to partner in the first place, don’t forget.
You’ll have neither when you move.
What’s it worth to potentially suck for a year or two when you could have been doing well and progressing at your previous firm unshackled by non-competes and buoyed by peers and Junior’s who know you and you know?
Tell the new firm your worth 800k and let them decide
What’s the grid look like? I know we have pretty structured 5 years so year 1 isn’t the best comparison
At that raise, given the increased proportionate tax load, you’re barely making more money net - not too attractive a move purely on the $ math. Type of firm, role, impact etc. should shape your thinking here instead of $ only.
Your market value is not on your base pay - that thinking should end when you enter partnership. A partner’s market value is from how much you sell and are able to take home as share of earnings.
