I am deeply influenced by the FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) principles.. wondering.. have people seen young partners (say A level partners) retire after a couple years? How does it affect pension for such partners?
Context: I'm trying to retire in the next 10-12 years.. which (if i stay in consulting) will probably be y2 or so as PPMD. Trying to gather some historical precedence info from the expert here!Deloitte

In this hypothetical situation, the answer is MD promotion. PwC will not flex its partner admission process.
yeah I figured as much but MD just wouldn't cut it for me considering the external role is partner in a non Big-4 firm that is specific to my industry. But worth asking to see if anyone has heard
What’s the other place?
It's pretty specific to my experience. If I said it - basically would be extremely easy to find who I am at PWC as there are really only handful of people that sell the specific offerings

@OP when did you make it to Director? If more than a couple years ago, may be a strong case to consider in the next 18 months
I was hired in as a senior director with the promise of partner in 2 years. It's been 2 years and I delivered on what I said I would do. Now they are telling me PCLDE next summer (or summer after - feel like a carrot being dangled in front of me which I don't appreciate anymore) which would make it another 3 years ..
This external role that I have been offered pays a lot more than I make now, and is very specific to my industry and in end will compete against PWC - so if they were to say we can get you to partner I would consider sticking around but not for MD as I would be a partner at the other firm.
