What’s the hardest part of coaching new managers?
I feel it’s helping them understand that avoiding difficult conversations usually makes things worse.

Have some down time now and want to learn something 'foundational' - not latest trends or just an overview. Do you have any recommendations on what can someone who has been in IT consulting in payer/provider for 5 years can learn? Like a short college course or a Coursera certification? Anything?

Worst part about being unemployed is the pity face everyone makes when you tell them. If I hear one more "don't worry you'll find something soon" I'm going to scream. Trying to be helpful is one thing but pitying me helps no one and makes me uncomfortable.

Got my H1B last year but haven’t had it stamped. Can I still change my company and then get it stamped? Have filled out DS160 and paid stamping fees already. would appreciate any insight

How do you track your progress towards goals?

I usually write down my reflections and goals in the notes app, but inevitably (after 1-2 months) i break my habit and fall off the wagon. I’m wondering if people have suggestions on how they stay on track

My company went toxic in the last couple months. Chose me and started interviewing. Had a very successful interview with Amazon but recruiter is working hard trying to place me and said there’s no knowing how long to find a team. Meanwhile I just received a Director offer for a company with a 29% pay bump July 1. If Amazon or any other FAANG/large co gets back to me, is there an acceptable way to not burn bridges with new job and accept or delay start date with FAANG? Or fuck it just hop?

I've got 4 years at a staffing agency after getting Masters in HRM and making a complete career change in 2018. Doing full cycle recruiting and account management. I feel I'm doing very well (in the role and with comp $57 base + commission = ~$91k last year) BUT I feel stuck!! I'm feeling undervalued and unchallenged. I think I'd love corporate recruiting/TA Specialist, etc. How do I make the jump? Should I just keep truckin??

Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

Hoping to get my PHR in the next year or so. Outside of employer reimbursement, are there other opportunities for this to get funded? I know SHRM Foundation offers scholarships for the CP, but I am looking for PHR specific help. Thank you! :)

As a 1 person HR show, what would your first hire be?

I am going to move in the next few month to a location with a higher cost of living due to personal circumstances. Any advice for someone looking to transition into a full HR Generalist role from Recruiting. I’m currently a Campus Recruiter with about 5 years of HR experience (Coordinator- Higher Ed).
