What’s the point of income thresholds for IRA Roth contributions if you can just back door into it when you make too much? You can still contribute $6k either way right?

That’s why it’s called “back door.” It’s a legal loophole inserted to benefit a certain demographic / “special interest.”

There used to be a hard limit with no backdoor. I believe the backdoor opened in 2010. They have tried to get rid of backdoor several times, most recently with BBB. I think it is a glitch that no one thought about in 2010 and is seen by many as a benefit to only the rich, depending on your definition of rich.

That's why it's called backdoor. It's a loophole that could be closed in the future.

You do get dinged if you have other traditional IRA balances which I would think a good majority do.

Is it a common practice to take the salary that HR may provide for a candidate and lop off 10% and call it a bonus? I’ve seen this happen and it seems like a weird thing to do. But maybe I’m wrong.

Recently accepted an offer at Twitter (I haven’t resigned yet thankfully) and of course have yet to hear back since the news of the layoffs.

Am I crazy to move forward if the offer isn’t rescinded? I’m deflated after many rejections, unhappy in my current role and the role is something I’m passionate about - I’m also no better off in terms of TC and frustrated since there will be no RSU package due to the acquisition.

I have very mixed feelings after how they treated their staff this week!

hi fishes,
I have joined lti as a lateral.
After joining they have asked me to collect laptop from office. When i went, the laptop was not in a great condition and was refurbished. I am guessing it was used almost 3 to 4 years before me.

I asked them for a new laptop and they said they dont have new laptop in stock, i even checked with my manager she said she is also using refurbished laptop so no problem.

Anyone else faced this problem earlier?. If yes how did you act on it?

I feel like I just can’t enjoy life. Just when I thought everything was right on track and looking promising and there’s something I look forward to, an unexpected turn always hit me hard in the face and put me in a shit show. Work wise, personal life wise, all the same.

How do people rationalize that indexing your investments is the best way to go b/c historically it’s gotten 7-10%. But also are the same people who say historical gains/losses can’t predict the future and that stock picking is gambling? There seems to be a disconnect. Why do people assume the market will continue to get 7-10% just by indexing?
