Hello, I have received an offer from Southwest Airlines as a Associate Technology Analyst with their direct college hire program. Will be graduating in May with a degree in MIS and also have internships experience as a Business Systems analyst intern. The salary compensation started off at 66,500 but was looking for the 75k range and they got back to me saying the best they can do is 68,500. They also have a 401k company match up to 9.3%. Do you think this is a solid offer for this job market?
Referrals seem to have the upper hand so I figured advertising myself is worth a shot. Recent M.A grad currently based in atl, but looking to move to nyc. Fly it’s quicker and cheaper rn. Wear a mask, touch as little as possible and don’t have your family pick you up. Take an Uber to them... remove all your clothes, wipe down luggage etc and self-quarantine.
Sounds about right.
D. Walk on foot. By the time you get there you would have already self quarantined for long enough and can go on your merry way. You will also have benefited from significant physical activity.

I’d fly. I had to fly Chicago-Dallas for the day and the planes were incredibly clean and basically empty.
I disagree that B is the safest. Car accidents are a large risk that need to be weighted.
Pro
I’m big on America realizing our car centric layout is terrible and dangerous, but 1 day trip is a very small risk.
Getting sick would also put groups at risks even with a quarantine period, there are failure points in trying to quarantine successfully too.

A.
Unless you plan to pee in water bottle or on the side of the road, don’t underestimate the uncleanliness levels of rest stops and gas stations along the way. Not to mention if you have any car trouble the chance of getting support right now is much more difficult than before.
I’ve flown 3 times and there’s no issues. Planes are relatively empty with no service on board so minimal contact while on a flight. Most stores in airports are closed. People sit far apart at gates. Most airport employees are wearing masks and TSA has plexiglass.

I did the same drive, though did it in 11.5hrs straight. Tbh, I'd fly if I were you.
Pro
It’s B Covid wise but driving for 14 hours isn’t really safe car accident wise.

I’m in the exact same situation so would love to see what people recommend
Buy a hazmat suit and do any of the above
The safest option would be to buy a brand new Jet, fly there, then burn the jet. To prevent any potential spread.
Or teleport.
Teleport works better. I do it all the time
I’d go with option B. It’s a long drive but totally manageable for one day (I’ve done this road trip before solo a few times).
You’ll also cut down on possible exposure by getting it done in one day.
It looks like flights are packed based on social media posts so I’d personally avoid those for now.

Driving is safer imho. Plus you have control over any delays that may arise. While airports and aircraft are probably a lot cleaner and safer than early days, you can’t control the numerous objects and people you will interact with. Thus driving while time consuming, will probably be the safest. This is also the same advice my physician gave me a few days back. Just be careful when refueling at gas stations, and the best course of action is to use a paper towel while fueling or wear gloves. Also keep in mind that restrooms will probably by closed at many fast food locations.

You forgot D. Uber from NYC to Chicago
Ah yes that’s my wallets favorite option haha

Probably B. I did the same
B is the safest.
A. Try your best to limit touching things
B is safest.
You are on a popular route so I'm sure the flight is packed, so A is probably the worst.
Pro
I think flight is safest. Just wear a mask.

I can help you check how busy certain flights are if you’re thinking of flying!

I have pilot friends so just lmk
I would say A, it’s actually safer on the airplane (air circulation is different). Just be careful in the airport when waiting in line and stuff. You may need to buy food/use restroom if driving long distance.

Probably A. Wear a mask and stay to yourself.
