What’s the safest option to go to Illinois right now?

A. Uber to airport, fly from JFK to Chicago and be picked up at airport by family
B. Uber to rental car, drive for 14 hours straight by myself from NYC to Illinois
C. Uber to rental car, drive 7 hours, sleep in hotel overnight, drive another 7

We would go into self isolation for 14 days once we arrive of course and use masks, sanitize, etc.

Fly it’s quicker and cheaper rn. Wear a mask, touch as little as possible and don’t have your family pick you up. Take an Uber to them... remove all your clothes, wipe down luggage etc and self-quarantine.

like

Sounds about right.

D. Walk on foot. By the time you get there you would have already self quarantined for long enough and can go on your merry way. You will also have benefited from significant physical activity.

I’d fly. I had to fly Chicago-Dallas for the day and the planes were incredibly clean and basically empty.

I disagree that B is the safest. Car accidents are a large risk that need to be weighted.

like

I’m big on America realizing our car centric layout is terrible and dangerous, but 1 day trip is a very small risk.

Getting sick would also put groups at risks even with a quarantine period, there are failure points in trying to quarantine successfully too.

like

A.

Unless you plan to pee in water bottle or on the side of the road, don’t underestimate the uncleanliness levels of rest stops and gas stations along the way. Not to mention if you have any car trouble the chance of getting support right now is much more difficult than before.

I’ve flown 3 times and there’s no issues. Planes are relatively empty with no service on board so minimal contact while on a flight. Most stores in airports are closed. People sit far apart at gates. Most airport employees are wearing masks and TSA has plexiglass.

like

I did the same drive, though did it in 11.5hrs straight. Tbh, I'd fly if I were you.

like

It’s B Covid wise but driving for 14 hours isn’t really safe car accident wise.

The safest option would be to buy a brand new Jet, fly there, then burn the jet. To prevent any potential spread.

Or teleport.

like

Teleport works better. I do it all the time

I’d go with option B. It’s a long drive but totally manageable for one day (I’ve done this road trip before solo a few times).

You’ll also cut down on possible exposure by getting it done in one day.

It looks like flights are packed based on social media posts so I’d personally avoid those for now.

like

Driving is safer imho. Plus you have control over any delays that may arise. While airports and aircraft are probably a lot cleaner and safer than early days, you can’t control the numerous objects and people you will interact with. Thus driving while time consuming, will probably be the safest. This is also the same advice my physician gave me a few days back. Just be careful when refueling at gas stations, and the best course of action is to use a paper towel while fueling or wear gloves. Also keep in mind that restrooms will probably by closed at many fast food locations.

like

You forgot D. Uber from NYC to Chicago

funny

Ah yes that’s my wallets favorite option haha

like

Probably B. I did the same

like

B is the safest.

like

A. Try your best to limit touching things

like

B is safest.

You are on a popular route so I'm sure the flight is packed, so A is probably the worst.

like

I think flight is safest. Just wear a mask.

like

I have pilot friends so just lmk

I would say A, it’s actually safer on the airplane (air circulation is different). Just be careful in the airport when waiting in line and stuff. You may need to buy food/use restroom if driving long distance.

like

Probably A. Wear a mask and stay to yourself.

Other options I'm considering are SBI life, HDFC life which offices are available in my locality.

Guilt and shame about working in a legal position for years where, instead of using my law degree (was supposed to do legal work per the job posting), I served as a personal assistant to my boss/did nothing for maybe half the time. I feel like I was paid for work I didn't do. I've since left that job but the guilt and shame remains. I feel that I lack the character of a lawyer and that I am unworthy of the profession. I don't know how to make up for the lost years or how to forgive myself.

I currently have the adjustable stand desk and a relatively comfortable office chair (not when reclining) but the other half of my office is empty. Im putting in a 55” tv and need a recliner, lounge chair, or something of the sorts to put in front of the tv. Something where i can put my feet up. How much do you normally on average net when you sell a home? Looking to upgrade due to second kid on the way and I’m curious how much goes to fees, brokers, agents, etc. My current home is worth 325k per Zillow and my mortgage balance is 165k, so about 160k of equity. So if I sold it for what it’s worth at 325k, how much could I expect to net for my next home’s down payment? I see different answers online so anyone with experience would be great. Thanks.

Question that could belong here or in the Relationships bowl:

How do women prefer to be turned down if the guy they’re pursuing is not interested. I know men have the capacity to deal with rejection poorly, and I’m not suggesting otherwise. But in my anecdotal experience , women take the gentle “no thanks, not interested” poorly.

Recently started going through the interview process. I ended up going through 2 interviews in about a week. After the first interview I heard back the following day saying that they wanted to meet for a second one. It’s been about 4 days now since the second interview, which felt like it went great, and still haven’t heard anything. Am I being impatient or should I have heard back by now? I already sent a thank you message after the second interview, should I try to follow up again?
