What’s the weirdest reaction that you have ever received, or seen someone else receive, in regards to having tattoos at a tech company?

Anyone has any book recommendations that teach you how not to get overly emotional with work? I found myself getting irritated/ frustrated/ stressed often and I think these emotion gets in the way for me to put out my best performance. So looking for advice

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

You see two co-workers kissing, who are both married, at a work event. What do you do? Hypothetical question and of course asking for a friend. No but really, should I do anything?

Senior revving up to manager promo. Only nervous about one thing at the manager level which is having to answer pointed “Why??” questions from higher up clients on live calls. Hello! I've been struggling the last few weeks because someone on my team has been taking credit for my work. This coworker is really good with buzzwords and getting the attention of upper management. I'm feeling discouraged - what should I do?

So, I just fired my first employee as a manager and I'm heartbroken. He was a great, great person but after 6 months on a PIP he just wasn't cutting it skills-wise. I know he was the provider of the household and his wife didn't have a job since she was raising three young ones. Needless to say, I had to take off because I felt terrible, sick to my stomach. How do you deal with firing guilt? Is that a thing? I can't help but feeling like I did something wrong.

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. A ways back, I was grabbing coffee in the Financial District when the young woman ringing me up said, “…you have all those tattoos and a septum piercing and you work around here?” I nodded “yes,” and said that I worked in tech. She was amazed that a woman that looked like me could get hired and work in a professional setting. I think it gave her confidence that she could do it too.

Used to be a cop that wasn’t allowed to have visible tattoos. Now I have 5 (only two visible) 🙃.

There was a time in my life where I would get a very visible tattoo every quarter to see how my leadership team would react to them.
