I don't have kids, so I'm honestly not sure. Waiting three months sounds like a good call in theory, but if the symptoms are making travel miserable for you, you owe it to yourself to have that conversation sooner than later. If you've got a good track record with your company, they should be willing to make accommodations for you.
I also travel a lot but I didn't have a lot of complications, so I told them at five months. You might want to tell them earlier so they can adjust future travel plans. Congratulations!
I know waiting until you reach the second trimester is ideal. However, if your job is negatively affecting you, then I would suggest telling your employer now.
They don't really have a choice to "take it badly". Firing or demoting a pregnant woman is a FAT lawsuit waiting to happen. Tell them when you are comfortable and if you're worried about your role duties going forward, you could present an idea about alternate coverage in the interim
