When I initially signed for my student loan in 2018, the interest rate was 2%. Since graduating in 2022, it has moved to 7.2%. My monthly interest payments are almost $300. It's so discouraging but I don't see a way out any time soon.

I know, I’m pretty upset over my interest rates too. Does anybody have a lot of different loans and consider consolidating them? I’ve been thinking about paying off my highest interest one, and then consolidating to try and get everything lower.

like

I had 1 private and 2 federal loans. I paid off 1 of my federal loans completely and now my remaining one is luckily at 0% interest. I don't think I can consolidate the two - I wish I could though

Also, NEVER take variable loans.

I graduated in 2022 and consolidated mine months after graduating at got them at 3.5 percent interest.
Once they raised rates once I knew I had to lock in.

Variable loans are fun when rates are low but that’s never forever.

Same! I got licky the interest rates were low.

NEVER take variable loans.

Mine went from 2% to 14.75% and now I’m paying $1,800+ per month that I can’t afford. No light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve tried consolidating and I never get approved because I have too much debt.

Yeah I obviously know that now… My mom setup the loans when I was 17 years old and too stupid to care.

I once heard that the average age of those that achieved a net worth of a $1M was around 49 yo. Is this intended to include assets like real estate equity or is this meant to be liquid assets / retirement accounts only?
Understanding, $1M is no longer the goal but for those of you that have achieved this already - What was the age you achieved it and are you including your home equity?

Interviewed for Deloitte S&A Tech Strategy SC and got a verbal offer for Consultant instead. I negotiated the offer to 120K salary and 10K signing bonus. I’m a boomerang with 4 years ERP consulting but this past year I’ve been doing DEI Consulting. Spoke with former colleagues who rejoined Deloitte and got a much higher offer for SC. How do I go back to the recruiter to negotiate further? I suggested that I’d probably sign but need time to think. Now I’d like to go back and request 140k salary.

I have a 25K loan from my MBA. I paid off 100k whole, after graduation. 3 years ago, I moved my loan from federal to private ( SOFI) account. I recently lost my job. I have applied for unemployment, as the severance that I received will only cover for 2 months. Together my husband and I used to make less than 250k after tax. Now, with a loss of pay , we are going to make less. Do you think I will be eligible for Loan forgiveness?

Curious to know how much your student loans were when you graduated from your program, how much you’ve paid off so far, and your age. If you have any varying factors too, like kids, income range, etc. Just trying to see if I’m on track or slacking in life. I am 34 yo, i graduated with 95k in student loans, i currently have 85k left and i make 85k in come. I’m also a single mom with two kids. Just praying for 100% student loans forgiveness. Wishful thinking???
