How much do you think diversity consultants make? And do you think it adds value or it's a corporate virtue signal expense?
Hey I have an ASC840 accounting question on this scenario - a target sold an asset 10 years ago for 10,000,000 and immediately leased it back. They recorded a deferred gain of $1M and amortized it over the term of the lease (still going) and letting that gain every month reduce the rent expense. Since this deal is cash free debt free shouldn’t we treat this as a debt like item? They received the cash in a prior period but we are now stuck with the payments. Debating how to quantify the adjstmnt

10+ YOE, experienced hire, and up for promotion to SC this year. My current project is straight up analyst work (absolutely no disrespect). I spend my days doing nothing but updating excel sheets, producing reports for slides, and doing extremely boring work (go into 100+ folders/excels and report back on who's completed what). I not only feel like this is BS, but I feel like it's going to screw up my promotion. I've never asked any analyst I have worked with to do this stuff, yet here I am...
Project Lead keeps extending me without any feedback or discussion with me. I've expressed to him that I would like to rolloff and transition to a roll that is more alligned with my skillset....
Need points help: current Delta gold, only 7000 MQMs from plat for 2017 but current project ends soon and expecting to fly Star Alliance. Should I stop before hitting plat to carry MQMs for 2018?
As an associate, is it better for the client to see that I’m doing a good amount of work and grinding through it for them or to appear like the work is effortless?
Do new BAs at McKinsey get company cellphones or would they just reimburse the monthly phone bill for a personal phone?
Another week of Microsoft Teams, Zoom meetings, impromptu phone calls, and passive-aggressive emails...

I trust the cracked out hobo outside my apartment more than the mute button on Skype/Lync.
For those of you living alone, how are you keeping yourself entertained during social distancing? I’m hundreds of miles from my family and the loneliness is starting to get really hard. Zoom/FaceTime calls seem to make the feeling worse, not better. I just feel so isolated. I’ve gone for some outdoor walks with a friend who lives nearby, but otherwise I go weeks without in-person interactions. Any suggestions?
Given the long hours, blah blah... Which companies are letting folks expense meals? If so, lunch or dinner or both. Just curious.
What % of your stock investment do you trade on frequent basis? e.g., out of my $100k invested in stock market, 90k is in index funds / ETFs for long term. I was wondering if the remaining 10k I have in “trends-driven” fund or stock (e.g., Zoom, RIOT, MGNI) should I trade frequently (sell at high, buy again when low..) Will tax implications impact decision / profits?
I went from strategy consulting to a long PMO project for a FAANG client... Starting to hate it. Any tips/advice/sharing would be appreciated.
How do you (politely) tell your clients that they invite you to too many meetings everyday? I’m in 6+ hours of client meetings every single day. I feel like I work for them (I’m agency side for a reason) and it’s challenging to have relationships with my internal team because I’m never around! Not to mention my actual work suffers.
What is a fun/dramatic tv show to watch for a zoom date? We already had one date several weeks ago. Preferably something interesting but also something we can talk over. Thanks for the suggestions!

🧮 Estimation question…on average, how many books would you have to sell per year to quit consulting and still earn over 100k as a writer? (taking the publisher’s cut into account)
Hi fellow USI 🐟 Did anyone recently apply for visa extension, how much time did Seyfarth took to complete the process and receiving the approval. End to end starting with initiation to approval.
Need opinions: lender services vs a lower MM M&A IB (deal value 60m to 200m/ebitda generally up to 25m) role. I’ve been wanting to pivot to finance for a while now but not sure if going the LMM route sets me up better than just staying in TAS and waiting for a role in ABS/private credit. Short term comp is less of a concern for me since I’m thinking of this LMM IB as a stepping stone move.

One more day of client and partner meetings then off to NOLA for a stag weekend. I predict a hazy and expensive 4 days ahead of me.
Currently a few weeks left on parental leave and have had a potential opportunity come up with a smaller firm that I think makes more sense for my career goals. The question I have is: assuming I get an offer and the details work out, how do I navigate leaving? Should I provide notice right away? Go back to my current firm for a couple weeks and then give notice? I certainly don’t want to burn bridges. How would you feel on the other side?
