Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. This just irks me. They can legit just tell you the real numbers instead of playing salary gymnastics.
Bonuses are never guaranteed
I only received bonuses when I worked corp not agency side
Agency bonuses are only given starting at exec levels from the ones I’ve asked and not guaranteed
Depends year end how we do
And which means you gotta stay at least a full cycle
If they can’t be honest that’s a red flag
Base salary and pto and other benefits are more important
Every agency also has diff office closures so check that
I’ve seen agencies not even give off for MLK
CNY Juneteenth and also don’t give you the last week of the year off
Ask.
Ask for a breakdown.
The base sounds like 75-85k with 15-25% bonus.
FYI, this company has unlimited PTO
I don’t think PTO is what they’d be referring to there. If there saying total comp is 100, then my guess is that’s base plus bonus, or base plus signing bonus maybe. But if they’re using weird phrasing like your post, I’d suggest just asking “can you share the breakdown of base vs other compensation?”

This agency gives out bonuses?
Agencies give out bonuses? I got a bonus once when I worked for a bank. Although I was told 15-20% and it was only 3% but still, I once got a bonus.
She emailed me and don't want to bring that breakdown number on the first email haha i’ll ask her next time on a call
Easy answer? Ask. Them hiding it is not ideal. They could be “estimating” a 200% bonus for all you know.
Might also include health benefits. My company shows total comp as "salary + bonus + benefits".
I would ask. It really just depends
