Personally, I don’t pay attention to that as they’re is no way I would be able to take weeks and weeks of holiday every year. It’s also a smart thing for the company to do because it makes you think they are throwing you a bone by not specifying a certain amount. In actual fact, it may make people less likely to take as much holiday through fear of managers thinking they may not be working enough etc… I’m not sure about salary wise, I don’t think it would be any different.
This tends to be my train of thought too. While I want to think unlimited PTO is really employee geared, I would personally know how much time I've "earned" off. Of course, a lot of exempt employees would love extra time off for the overtime they work.
I think it would be encouraging. And I think that’s the point for the company.. to promote its employees taking time off. So it’s up to you to manage your work accordingly and make time off a priority 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t think that generous of a benefit would make an employer more likely to pay higher salaries, but I’ve also never found an employer offering unlimited PTO.
My company offers unlimited PTO and I love it. Nobody is discouraged from utilizing it; just gotta make sure there is coverage. I've got a few nice 7+ day vacations lined up, and it's nice being able to take a sick day when I need it. Never thought about getting paid a higher salary because of it though.
Its def a nice perk. I wouldn't say that would make me more likely to take that over something else. It would depend on the total package.
