I would pick either TN, TX, FL, NV due to no state tax. From there, it depends how you define comfortable. If all you need is a small house, internet and a walmart, then almost any small town might be fine as long as you confirm that decent cable broadband is available. I want city access, so I would pick a somewhat big city and maybe live in an exurb. Memphis might be a good blend of urban and cheap.

350-425k? That sounds somewhat pricier than expected for a FIRE lifestyle. I'd probably pick a cheaper, smaller place and sacrifice on the neighborhood, schools, etc. (No kids here)

Kansas City is a low cost of living and pretty cool place. Centrally located if you want to travel. But not close to mountains.

Chicago and live outside the suburbs. It’s easy enough to get to O’Hare if you’re traveling from outside the city and if you have to go around in the city it’s just a little bit more of a drive. The COL outside the suburbs is extremely low.

Also not sure if i should be looking for a studio or 1br for more space but at a much higher price tag that i have to pay for. Any thoughts?

Back on the market and I’m coming to find two things: 1. Less desirable agencies are the ones who want people back on-site soon, with no wiggle room for remote work. 2. These same agencies want to pay salaries based on COL in the city where the agency is based even if you’re working/living from another market in the interim. Example: Midwest based agency paying Midwest salaries to folks living in places like NY, SF, LA. 🧐🧐🧐🧐

Hi ladies, Is the 6 month mark too early to ask for a raise? I have been required to over step my job role in almost every capacity. My bosses boss is contacting my personal phone on this weekend as the main point of contact for crisis comms on social media. I am also helping more senior social media members often. I have received 5 pieces of overwhelmingly positive written feedback from colleagues and these will be reviewed at the end of probation talk. I just don't know how to ask. 😔
