A. Because it’s the greatest city in the world and it’s not even close.
NY way better than London, I mean I'm a big fan of NY but you've got to be joking. London is a whole new level. Food is better in NY though 🙂
San Diego hands down. Best vibes, best weather, best views, best activities and best people. Lowest COL of the 3. I've had 6 friends move there from around around country and all of them are now the happiest I've ever seen them. I've lived in both of the other two and can't think of worse places to have to pay so much to live in.
I live in bed stuy. But to answer Huron - 5k is quite a lot for brooklyn. You can find 2 bedrooms for way less in almost every neighborhood in Brooklyn and queens and the Bronx. Excluding the really expensive neighborhoods like Williamsburg, Brooklyn heights, Fort Greene, park slope etc. My friend lives in a new building 1 bedroom in Manhattan and pays 5k. Not saying you can't pay that much in one of the new Brooklyn buildings but almost all the neighborhoods are cheaper than that.
OP I'm ready for that sunshine. I'm in my 30s so I care less about nightlife and more about space, sun and nature.

San Diego. I've lived in NYC for all of my 20s so far and it's been a great time, but I could do with returning to SD now. Sign me up for that zoo membership.

C. Lived in San Diego for 15 years. Many great things about the city. We lived in Encinitas, near ocean. Good place to be, single or married, no kids. Now happily moved to middle of country to raise family. Love it even more here, I missed the 4 seasons! And the education is far superior!
If you love having a life, San Diego wins by a mile. More affordable than the other 2, with absolutely plenty to do - especially outdoors. LA is disgusting and heavily polluted. LA does have lots to do, but spend a weekend there and come home to your clean air in SD with near perfect weather all year.
It’s true that the job market isn’t comparable here as it is to the other two, so it depends on where you are in your career & if you can work remotely.
Depends how much money I have.
You can easily ball in NYC for that rent. But you will probably ball harder in cheaper places.
A, but only if I were stinking rich.

B. Already here, hard to think of anywhere else to live. Should have moved here much sooner than I did.
Forever LA.

I live just outside NYC and wouldn't live there for free. Easily San Diego
San Diego for sure
New York city hands down. The most fun and interesting city in the world 🌎
San Diego for sure. I’m from NYC and been to both LA and San Diego. LA is cool and all but you will be paying for it with both time (traffic) and money.

New York. Fortunately already there.
San Diego by a long shot. Then NEw York… LA last - even if it’s the last place on earth.
SD has solid acceptable weather pattern. Beach. Relaxed people. Just get a whole house water filter. It is a desert with associated water problems.
NY is unique in every way and there aren’t enough good things to say about it. I’m not a city entertainment kind of person so it doesn’t entice me. I also really don’t enjoy being around people - I like the suburbs. NY is expensive, crowded, and busy. Not my jam. SD beats it in every way - a bit cheaper, spread out, and people are far away when you want them to be.
LA sucks in every category.
