Hello!
I finished my final round(s) for a TAM position at Google (GCP) last week and was told by my recruiter that my feedback was great and that I made a solid impression on the team and am "firmly in the running". I was supposed to hear back this week (according to the recruiter) but he just told me that it's still in the process and that I'll have to wait for another week or so.
Is this common at Google ? I have heard they are notorious for being really slow with their hiring process.
I hope some genuine people are their in Fishbowl

Hi Fishes,
Does Deloitte USI have any cool down period, if you apply and do not get any response from the company? I had previously applied in a role, but didn't hear back from them. So, I'm planning to try to apply via referral this time and I'm wondering if I should use the same e-mail ID or a different one! Deloitte USI

Focus on giving great service and referrals will come. I’ve grown because I make it a point to ask about kids, family, their interests. I send out birthday cards (include a personal note), thanksgiving and Christmas. My widows, divorced and single receive valentine cards.
The family aspect of it does add a layer of complexity. I think it’s a little like the market. Right know it sucks and it’s a bear market bc my client count is not going up consistently and they are constantly on me about it but I think if I stick to it and don’t act based on emotion, it will be worth it in the long run. As part of the same conversation that same family member said they don’t want me to be under their thumb and want me writing my own checks ASAP and that’s why they are pushing me and part of that is to do this referral sheet business but honestly it’s just not my style. I hate to be hard headed but I just can’t feel good about it. I definitely do a lot of networking but i think maybe i need to do some more targeted networking like a BNI or something like that where it’s clear you are there for business. I enjoy traditional networking where you build relationships and hope a business relationship comes from it but I’ve been doing that and I’ve gotten maybe 1 client from that method. I’m completely on board that what I’m doing isn’t working enough and i need to do something different. But I think hounding our clients is a strategy that I’m frankly tired of.
I mention referrals in every meeting and I get a nod and a smile and never anything of substance. I’m feeling like a broken record and desperate but I don’t think the referral sheet is going to work either. I frankly feel like our clients are concerned with themselves and themselves only. Not with helping us advance our own careers or practice.
Cringe is the right word. Your boss is a bozo.
If you do not ask, 100% of the time you will get no referrals. The sheet creates self-accountability for you to ASK.
If you have served your clients faithfully, and they find value in the service you have provided, why wouldn’t they want to introduce you too friends and family?
BNI can be very helpful in getting new clients. I would definitely try something like it.
I have sent out the sheet only 5 times and it makes me CRINGE!!! But just recently someone actually sent it back with a name on it! Yeah it sucks and it makes us to cringe but can you think of any other way to get a referral? And they're not doing it to help your practice because they don't give a shit about your practice. They would be doing it to help their own friend or family member that they care about!
