Who’s actually on my side?
I’m about to accept a job offer that I really need. That said - here’s my rub with this process:
- the company has been dragging its feet for months with ghosting-like behavior.
- the headhunter told me x salary but submitted my profile for 20k less, that was a pretty crappy mistake to make. I feel duped
- he sounds like a greasy used car salesman
- is now putting mega pressure on me to sign the agreement right away even though I told him I won’t and will sleep on it

Don't cut off your nose to spite your face take the job and leave him in the dust. BTW... companies hate paying 3rdPty recruiters fees- we don't ghost we exhaust all other candidates before we pay that 30% fee. He may not have actually had a contract with them, and was using you as bait. the delay could have been how long it took him to negotiate a contract. Obvs He's pushing you to sign bc he wants his $$. And btw...the comp was never as high as he told you he lied to you to get you to give him permission to submit you to the company. Cant count the times I've had to walk back the lies 3p recruiters tell candidates. Tell him you want a signing bonus from HIS pocket and a retention bonus after 90 days. ( If you quit prior to 90days- he has to replace you or pay the fee back). IF he goes back to the company to try to get them to pay, they could rescind the offer so could backfire. So take my shady advice with a grain of salt. Good luck in your new job!

I do sales for a major engineering firm. Focused on new business and exploring new markets. Last year I was in the top 50% for order intake, and first in number of projects won along with number of new customers. I think this is extraordinary given the effort it takes to win new business.

For next year my goal increased by 2.5X, and less of what I bring in counts towards that target. I really enjoy my job but I will essentially be getting a large pay cut. Lost in what to do besides quit??

Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). Anyone from Dropbox who can put me in touch with HR or suggest what I should do next?

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.

Questions about job hopping-
My average tenure at a company is ~1.5 years (with ~11 YOE), but each jump I've made has yielded progressive/tangible career growth.

I'm concerned after my most recent jump (went from a product director to a head of product position at a different, smaller company after only a year) that I've kind of poisoned future career prospects at larger companies.

Any insights on whether this type of job hopping is a complete deal breaker for potential HMs?

Is this new job DOA? I’ve been in my new role 6 weeks after interviewing extensively and getting 5 offers and thinking back on those offers I turned down. I picked this company bc I liked their product and the manager, but I’m already feeling 1. REALLY silo-ed . Not a collaborative environment (even though I’m perfectly capable of doing my own thing.)Like I have entire days I don’t talk to anyone 2. Can’t seem to get my boss’s attention on my priorities that truly should be huge company issues

Is it wise to go to my company’s competitor for a promotion and risk burning a bridge?

For context, my small company was suddenly bought out by a large corp. I was about to get promoted to leadership but the new company doesn’t want to honor the title/salary increase we worked out. We only have one significant competitor in our industry, and it’s likely my best option. Love my company, been with them for years, but I’m really struggling with how frustrating this situation is.

Is asking for a raise at a company I’ve been at for 6 months to soon? I believe the work I’ve been doing is worth more than what I’m making now

Recently, i was "promoted" or, I should say, my title was changed to the next ring up the ladder. As a part of this, I went from reporting to Senior Management, to Junior Management. The Jr. Manager has good intentions, but, is not helpful. I've worked at the company longer, have accomplished more across multiple lines of business and have a much stronger internal network. Am I overreacting thinking this is a major slight that will ultimately slow down my growth within the company?

Anyone been ghosted by Apple? I’m seven interviews in and heard zero from my recruiter. I’ve followed up a few times. Their response ‘you’re in the mix, please be patient’ I don’t feel I can follow up again but deeply frustrating after so much time and effort
