Quick qstn - I'm receiving HRA of 24075 from my employer but I would like dhow the rent paid as 96k p.a (while filing ITR). Even if I do so, I was only able to get exemption of 24075 from gross. Checking if we can speak to payroll department to increase Actual HRA since I'm actually paying more rent than compared. Will I be able to do so ?Deloitte Newco EY Accenture Genpact KPMG

Anyone with recent experience recruiting for Boston Consulting Group? Got in touch with a recruiter through referral, was directed to submit an application and already finished my pymetrics. Anyone know when I would be able to hear back and what the hiring timeline looks like? Recruiter suggested to get back in a few weeks but isn’t it too slow? McKinsey sent me an invite for 1st interview in a few days after they received my referral.

Not MBB but working with red throbbing eyes, a drink of old fashioned next to you with strips of aspirin in the bag is a superpower bestowed upon you.
I’d offer an even simpler reason: Partners scope projects to make consultants work that much because their competitors also do, and they know it won’t impact new consultants wanting to join. Why ever scope for less when you don’t have to!
Otherwise they lose the RFP

Because we charge absurdly high prices, promise unreasonably high impact and results, and try to deliver it all with an understaffed team

Idk what the hourly rate is. We don’t usually charge per hour, and we work more hours than the typical 40/week. But it is quite high

No real reason. I am sure it can be fixed easily. Everyone was sure that without 4 day weekly travel consulting will not survive, now no one even wants to return to it.
I feel a lot of this is also driven by an "up or out" culture. People will feel anxious logging off early, if at any moment they feel not knowing the answer to everything or being seen to not "drive the answer" enough could get them on performance management and on their way out of the job. With that said, I equally could be one of those Type A people stressing myself unnecessarily and might be the only one who thinks this way.
Do you feel that most of the extra hours worked are unnecessary or could be mitigated? Is is more of a cultural issue?
When I left MBB, I promised myself not to work like that ever. So far I'm very very happy for making that decision and it was an eye opener how the rest of the world works and enjoys their life.

The other reason is we do a lot of strategy and CDD work which have aggressive timelines.
