Hi Fishers, I have accepted Walmart offer and my BGV has started 3 weeks ago. How do I check my BGV status? I will be joining in mid May. Also, I have been hiding one of the company where I had worked for 45 days and then absconded due to personal issues. Would it create any trouble? They had created my PF account though. Any help would be highly appreciated

Agree with you on all points. Unfortunately the way it is for us young creatives is that often in order to get a good pedigree of agencies and build up a solid book, we often have to go to those networks before going indie and taking a more senior position.
In our time there, let's work on changing it so that it's at least better for the next generation (assuming these networks will be around or appealing to the next generation of creative talent lol)
Agreed. When I was an intern and entry level employee many moons ago, I sought out big name agencies (often associated with holding companies) for resources, talent, and prestige. It’s very much a symbiotic relationship because WPP, IPG, OMC need cheap talent and we need their big clients for experience. I once interviewed at a small indie shop and their clients were an organic graham cracker company and Altria.... see the difference?
Looks better on a resume than “who’s that?”
@acd1, well done.
I’m under 25 and currently working at a holding company agency - it’s working out well for me. I know they don’t pay that great but at this stage that’s not my first concern.
The high turnover ends up working to my advantage because it gets me bigger opportunities than I would get otherwise.
Plus I get to meet a larger portion of the industry. I now have connections in almost every large agency in the city.
It’s also not a choice for some people. Most of my graduating class from portfolio school didn’t get into the industry. Some people are just taking what they can get.
Totally agree with you on the more opportunities with turnover. At first I loved it, then kind of grew to resent that I wasn’t being compensated for the level of work I’m actually doing.
Money. It’s a luxury to be able not to. It’s easier for seniors to have this perspective. Why don’t more seniors speak up and be the change? Same damn thing.
Well, honestly it’s an experience in it self. You don’t understand the value of boutique agencies unless u work for one of them giants. And like many stated in the comments above - it’s for the resume, big clients. Like the Ivy League of Agencies.
Considering most agencies are owned by a holding company (especially most big ones, which have the most jobs, obvs) it would be fairly impossible for all the folks under 25 to avoid working under the umbrella of a holding company (that is, if they want to work).
Now every agency is different and every holding company is different. I wouldn’t lump all the agencies owned by a holding company together in one bucket.
