With covid this year, most firm holiday celebrations/dinners etc. have been canceled. Other than actual bonuses, what is everyone doing to show your associates and assistants you appreciate the hard work they put in all year? (Pre-covid, we would’ve taken them all out to a really nice dinner)

We sent cakes from a company run by a client for Thanksgiving to thank them for their hard work this year. We will also do a secret Santa. Usually we have a massive party.

Since you’re already doing a bonus, I am sure the cash equivalent of a nice takeout meal or an UberEats or DoorDash gift card for a nice meal will go a long way.

Thanks for posting this. I’ve been wondering the same thing. We usually take everyone for a nice 1:30 Friday lunch and then everyone goes home. Do we give everyone a Friday afternoon in Dec off? What are others doing?

Our office is doing a virtual game night. There are companies on-line that will help organize (we have a Firm with slightly over 25 people and it might now work with larger). We have given everybody a $50 allowance for dinner and wine and we will have a virtual happy hour before the game night begins (there will also be bonuses but we are a relatively new firm so they won my be huge). We have never tried something like this before so we will see how it goes.

More paid time off

Extra day off before thanksgiving and holidays. And being good to step in and protect the time for them when faced with client requests (where possible).

Gift baskets from Vansgifts.com or winecountrygiftbaskets.com

Thank you for all the tips!

Our 20+ firm that suspended 2030 bonuses is devoting the $5500 we spent on holiday dinner to $100 net bonus checks for 25 employees and the other half to local food banks under dire demands and informing employees it’s in their names

Offered $115K with a $5K sign on bonus for a senior position in risk at a similar consulting firm. I had noted in the beginning I had previously received a $120K offer from a bank that I had declined because it was a hybrid role. Since this is a remote role, I'd be happy with this amount but I was wondering if I should negotiate. 6 years of experience, no license, NY. In addition, I have a vacation already planned in first 2 weeks of July. Should I add the delayed start date to my negotiation?

I was laid off in May and been on the job hunt for 4 months. Finally received a offer. Then a week later another offer. I was working remotely for the past year & I’m struggling w/ the idea of being onsite. Neither job is on my desired career path, my goal is people operations/HR operations.
Offer 1: Payroll Admin, on-site. 72k, 216 hrs PTO
Offer 2: HR Payroll Admin, Remote. 62.5K + 6k sign on bonus, 70k after 6 months, 144 hrs PTO

How is PTO truly unlimited if leaders are notified when people take too much (whatever that means) PTO and will tell employees to not take more PTO? Isn’t that just limited PTO except instead of it being documented it’s just up to whether your leadership thinks you’ve been taking too much PTO and/or if they like you?
