How is performance measured at MBB?
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company I have my first rounds (2 cases) for a position at the risk practice. Will I be interviewed by consultants in the risk practice? I wonder if I can ask some risk practice specific questions at the end of the interviews. (Didn’t get the names of the interviewers yet so I cannot google)
A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

All mid
OW, Kearney, and LEK are well-respected T2s.
S& prob seen as the best amongst B4 strategy arms, but Deloitte (old S&O) is a larger feeder for lateral hires, EYP seen as equally good for M&A work.
I don’t really subscribe to the idea of rankings- really comes down to what practice area you’re looking at- and each has its own strengths
It shouldn’t matter what MBB people think but rather the market. Who would an executive call or choose all else equal? Who cares what some consultant at another firm thinks?
There are a statistically significant amount of ex-MBB people in executive positions, so doesn’t really feel like that much of a stretch. Was just curious what firms all you smart people have respect for. As high performers in the industry, I thought your insights/perceptions would be interesting to hear. I should have expected these kinds of responses from MBBers tho lol. Y’all love to throw around the ‘so what?’ zingers rather than just responding to people’s questions in good faith on this app lmao.

My perception for the US based on what I believe cross offer rates would look like and each firms competitiveness on campuses at UG level:
Outside of big 4 strategy, OW, LEK, Kearney, maybe in that order if you really wanted to get specific. For big 4 strategy, my perception now is that S& is the strongest (and would be right in that pack of 3 above).
Then EYP and Deloitte (whatever their strategy arm is called now). Deloitte seems to have a wider range in quality.
Others like Alix / A&M are great places to be, but don’t have as broad of an appeal on campus since they’re perceived as more niche.
All in all, each of the firms I mentioned here is IMO close enough in the sense that, if someone had offers at all of these, they could pick any of them and I’d think “okay, makes sense”. And every one of them is a insanely priveledgsd job to have - among the absolute best in the corporate world.
I appreciate the answer! This makes a ton of sense—totally agree with your last point as well.
