Worked 1 year in public, still sitting for my CPA exam and wanting to switch to industry. Hoping to have more time to study once in private. Any advice?

It all boils down to your goals and how you are as a person, whether you are internally or externally motivated. For me, I definitely want the cpa designation and knowing I need the cpa in PA to make manager is enough external motivation to actually commit to studying. If I were to go to industry where the cpa is slightly less critical (depending on career goals), it’s easy to get by without and I know I’d never have the motivation to study.

Thanksfor that advice. I was on a loan staff assignment and it could be the client, but i knew that i didn't like the environment in private.

I have an associate's degree in graphic design and work designing wedding stationery. I know I'm underpaid (50k/year in the SF Bay Area) but I thought the benefits and stability were worth it. I'm now severely burnt out (most of my team is) and not sure which way to go, or how to grow. Any tips/advice?

I'm a recent grad who accepted an entry-level full-time job offer with Capital One. I knew that MBB and other consulting firms rarely ever negotiate salary with new grads, so I didn't with Capital One as well. Was that a mistake? What were the likelihoods that they would have raised my salary? I had no other competing offers at the time

On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most, how pissed would you be if you were a supervisor and you had a new direct report on your team with a higher salary than you? The years of experience are the same, but you have 3 designations (they have 0), you have 3 licenses (they have just 2), they have little to no experience with technical complex claims (you have hundreds), and you have 3 years in management (they have 0).
