I want to FIRE but our current system makes it so hard psychologically. Right now I’m mid career making okay money and would be fine to give it up to pursue things I enjoy. I realized it’s important to have enough to cover my expenses but also make sure I don’t make too much because the golden handcuffs will take over. Question on changing roles: a friend of mine did not pass the final round at BCG for an associate position, due to not having as much relevant experience as the other candidates. However, they are interested in him and will likely offer him a research position. Does anybody know whether it is likely that you can switch from a research role to a consulting role? Got a BS in Advertising in 2018 and have good knowledge of Adobe (photoshop, indesign, illustrator).
