We’re at a weird change in the industry where anyone who claims to know the answer to this is a liar. Client side isn’t what it used to be, and if it’s a good brand, you could walk away with some great work. It just depends on what kind of creative environment that client is going to have. It’s really about what happens to your book over the next few years
Cut your teeth longer. Unless you believe in the path the opportunity provides. You need to show and prove you grind like the rest of us if you want longevity in the actual industry
Totally depends on the place. You want to work client side for a bleach company? Maybe not. But anyone who tells you client side at a place like google, fb, Spotify or the like is a bad career move isn’t reading the tea leaves. Those companies have some of the most creative people in the world (and not just advertising-creative) working for them.
Go where the talent is. If a client has an amazing leader and team then yes it could be good but if it’s mediocre at best then you have your answer.
What about taking a position at a mediocre company in hopes it gives you a leg up getting onto the cooler ones?
