No no no no and no
HELL NO. take the manager position
Not a chance.
I did. Was new manager at midsize then moved to b4. Reality is I am kind of happy I did it because I probably would have been overwhelmed. The amount of new technology that you would need to learn without actually touching it as a manager would be too much. Now I’m just a super strong senior. I also discussed promotion to manager in a year max during discussions when interviewing and they said as long as I do good it should be fine so that’s looking good
What position are you currently?
That is the worst year
Coming from a mid-tier firm, I think I would.
Agreed w PWC
Pwc 2*
I think coming in as S3 instead of M1 is a good move. Your seniors will quite possibly despise reporting to someone who appears to know less than they do (Audit Methodology, Firm IT, etc.). As a S3 you will:
- Have a leg up on your class and more likely to be noted as a high performer
- Make relationships now as a S3 for your main clients
- Learn all the firm specific IT systems and policies
- Research audit methodology
- Quite likely (E.g., EY) you'll get a bonus next year when you promo S3 > M1
I left national as senior 1 and joined EY as staff 2
