Even though this is a very transient industry, when I see several one-year stints on a candidate’s resume, that’s a big red flag. Honestly, you’ve typically just found your groove after your first year at a company. And Group Account Supe sounds like a made up title.
Do you feel ready for it? Then yes. Clearly someone else thinks you’re ready
Too many unknowns including prospects of promotion at current place and relationships with current boss, team, and clients.
I don't think you're really "promoted" if you've never actually been promoted within an organization. You're just title hopping. I have 3 internal promotions on my resume and can tell you the validation you receive and pride you feel for having "earned" it is higher. Not to be confused with the scenario of slaving and performing great at a place for several years with no prospects of growth in title, salary, and responsibilities!
^ It's a highly popular and standard title in pharma ad agencies.
Depends on the agency that is offering you the Group Acct Sup title. Is it well reputed and better than your current spot? Is the pay jump really significant enough to make a difference? The jump in responsibilities? What is the next title hop at your current agency - Director? I would consider factors like that too.
What’s a GAS? I’d be a little suspect of the time frames. At some point you need time to learn the job. Take another year or two and get to Director.
I’ve never heard of GAS. If you’re ready to level out of AS you should be AD. Anyone else tired of made up interim titles before bigger promotions?
Depends on the pay and opportunity at the new role. If both are better, go for it!
It would be a big red flag for me. I read the resumes passed on by HR before deciding to interview or not and that would make me question both ability (because of being promoted too quickly to really have mastered the skills required at the previous level) as well as commitment. If you do make the change, be ready to stay put for a few years so the short stints aren’t as big of a cause for concern.
