Would you say that your boss really gives you enough instruction or is it lacking? I feel like if I don't give step by step details and follow ups how can I expect people to get everything right and nothing to slip through the cracks...

I try to give me team members some leeway. I want them to feel like I trust them. On top of that, I don't want them to become dependent on me to do their job.

I hear you. if the boss gives clear instructions, it's like having a roadmap. Follow-ups make sure nothing gets missed. Teamwork is smoother when everyone knows what to do

My company cut staff to 4 days/wk to save funds. I was getting requests from coworkers for docs needed urgently on our day off (fridays). I would oblige them. But then, I learned that those same coworkers had been put back to 5 days because they were deemed “essential“. I felt foolish and decided to stop working on fridays. One EVP (not the GC) in particular has been aggressively texting/calling me on fridays. How Do I tactfully respond? My out-of-office email is not enough of a hint...

If buy the partners you work with regularly a holiday gift, how much do you spend? Usually I get baked goods or food items which you can’t tell the actual amount spent on. This year, though, I’d like to support local restaurants by encouraging people to order takeout—hence, giving gift cards.

How much is appropriate for a restaurant gift card from an associate to a partner?

Since we returned to office in October, is it appropriate to give holiday gifts to team members?

Cons:
- culture deck is something else: if they think they can do better than you, they will just let you go

- they think they’re the Yankees: if you’re batting.385, but they think there is someone out there who can bat .400, you’re going to get fired

- they will openly discuss at a meeting why you suck

- Reed Hastings' leadership style was once described as being "unencumbered by emotion". A VP once told him he's not a good listener and tends to be unempathetic.
