We do both but it's not really either. Mainly little travel and are focused on analytics projects. There are strategy projects and there are staff aug projects, but the staff aug are usually H1Bs
I'm from ZS. Early comm launch etc can be purely strategy. Were you interviewed for a specific position? Would help to answer your question. I'm not sure what staff aug is ... would say North America offices are majority management consulting. Brand is great among healthcare / biotech / pharma although we are moving more into PI now. Pay is good. Culture is great in my opinion but somewhat dependent on office location. People are friendly and willing to help you. Fractional staffing can be tough at times but it really helps you develop time management skills. Not much travel until you are a PAM (principal / associate principal / manager). I rarely work weekends and hours during the week are flexible as long as I'm getting my work done.
What's the role title? If it's "Solutions Analyst" or similar, then staff aug. Our MC roles are called "Strategy, Insights & Planning" or "Decision Analytics".
@OP Not saying ZS is perfect, I have plenty of issues and concerns I'd like to see resolved, but people here are generally happy. It's a tough job definitely but pretty rewarding if you fight for what you want to work on and make an effort to network. I've only talked to one Deloitter in person so I can't realistically compare, but it does sound better here assuming we're only talking about the strategy side of work.
fishbowldrugpusher@yahoo.com if you want to discuss.
Recruiter reached out for Early comm launch, pipeline and product development service line.
Fractional staffing. Can be brutal. I hear if you didn't grow up organically in the firm it can be very tough.
ZS1: any idea about the Early comm launch, pipeline and product development service line? Is that MC or staff Aug?
It's more staff aug. they staff projects based on functional knowledge/specific skill set. So they'll bring you in for a specific offering and you'll. E pigeonholed.
^good to know. Thanks.
That's going to be more strategy based than staff aug. Chances are that if you're getting brought in for a specific group you won't be doing staff aug at all. Like I said, most of those positions are H1B and/or are advertised as staff aug when hiring
ZS1: I'm on H1B. I'm an international student who went to grad school here. I was approached by a recruiter for this practice. Wanted to know if it's a staff Aug type role then I'd avoid wasting their time and my time. But if it's MC I might be able to take that call
@OP i am familiar with the position that you were approached for. It is not staff aug.
@OP I would recommend you just take call. But be warned, ZS is NOT like Deloitte at all.
Thanks a lot guys.
ZS2: thanks a lot. I'll take the call with the recruiter next week and reach out to you if I have questions about the practice and the firm. Thanks again
BA1: thanks. In what sense is it different from Deloitte?
@OP well I haven't worked at Deloitte but judging on how Deloitte employees talk on here, we're different in brand / culture / work hours / work structure / type of work / overall level of happiness
^assuming everything you said is better at ZS in your opinion?
That's good that overall firm culture is generally positive. At Deloitte some groups are awesome and some groups and suckcthe life out of you. So it Really depends
