Which one of our firms’ genius government consulting arms came up with ATL Airport’s system where each bag goes in a separate bin? The throughput math probably makes sense on paper but you’re increasing the cycle time of getting each person through. Plus it’s just over-engineered and pointless

How can I get started ?

For those of you that live in cities with hot/humid weather in the summer, how do you go on walks on your lunch break? I used to live in the Midwest and would step out in my office clothes for about 30 minutes or so and come back and I'd be perfectly fine but I'm in ATL now and I feel so sticky and gross when I do that. I know I could go on a treadmill but I don't want to have to change clothes and I like being outside.

I'm a registered nurse living in metro ATL. I have 8 years total experience (5 cardiac and 3 behavioral health). I currently make $40/hr base not including night differential (I'm staff, not traveler). Is my salary decent for the amount of years I've been a nurse and location?

Accepted a new job that requires me to move to from ATL to NYC. Hybrid role, $110k. I have always been very money conscious, but due to some non-monetary factors I’m debating a few things. Essentially fresh out of school and worth about $50k. Friends in the area suggest living in a popular area that’s commutable to the office. 2-2.5 w/ and 2.5-3k w/o roommates. I’m finding it very hard to justify these prices even with the pay. At what point can you justify paying more for housing costs?

Base - 165k, sign on - 10k, perf - 10%, yoe - 9.5yrs.

As a city, Atlanta vs Austin. Thoughts? Trying to decide between which city to move to. I’m into nature, hiking, and being generally active. Big foodie too. Single, 28M. People in Austin seem friendlier, but diversity is lacking compared to ATL.

Hey ATL fish, is there a negative connotation to Chamblee vs Brookhaven. From a home buy perspective, I am seeing better deals, newer homes in Chamblee. Both are ITP. But I get the sense that Chamblee has a "working class" element to it, especially with respect to Buford Hwy corridor. Any thoughts?

I just got a job at Big 4 & am located in Atlanta. Moving to Charlotte has been in the back of my mind for a while now. I am single 26 year old female (completely single ATL’s dating scene sucks here). Are y’all happy in Charlotte? Has anyone moved from Atlanta?

Thinking about relocating out of Dallas: Austin, Atlanta, or Charlotte? 27 yo single male looking to eventually settle and put some roots down somewhere. I heard Atlanta is terrible for dating, but not as many things to do in Charlotte vs ATL and ATX (but overcrowding in both of those latter cities)

Big tech is making its presence known in the ATL! Microsoft is here , Amazon! I had the opportunity to interview for two related roles at Microsoft, interview went absolutely great or as I thought lol. Didn’t get the role. 3 months later , found out somebody internally got the job. I don’t feel as bad but I still hope to work for one of those major companies sooner than later . I didn’t have a referral, I applied online.

Looking to move from LA to ATL and stay with my current company. They are supportive of the transition, but I’m concerned about a comp adjustment since ATL might not be considered HCOL. Does any one have experience transferring offices within their company and keeping the same comp? How did you approach those conversations?

I'm an Alabama native & the culture varies drastically from Atlanta but ATL still has a vibrant energy to it that I can't quit put a pin on!

How friendly are people in ATL/how open are they to making friends? Just moved from Chicago to Dallas with my family and there's a huge cultural difference in terms of how friendly people are.

Currently negotiating temp contract with FAANG org. Initially I was offered rang of 40-50 per hour for Atlanta region however I said I work in NY market. After doing some research I realized going to atl is the better option, which they seem to not have an issue with however my contractor try to renegotiate my rate to 35 which is absurd. Claiming this is the hugest for this region but during my screen sourcer agreed to my 40-50 range for atl. Not sure how to proceed.
