I went from being an in house creative on a huge team in NY to taking a role as the only designer in a successful tech startup due to the pandemic messing up a new job.

I need some perspective in TC as a product designer.

Previously worked 8 years in advertising as a visual designer.

Accepted a role as a IC1 product designer in 2018 for 100k and 303 stock options. Got promoted in 2019 to 113k with 13.5k in RSUs. Looks like im getting promoted again this coming review cycle to IC3 (senior level).

Hi, I need some career guidance from experts.. I am 11x certified professional, with 3 designer certification, planning to complete the remaining 2 within couple of months. Currently working as a junior technical architect in Accenture ATCi, 9 yrs exp total . I don't have a MBA degree. Where do I go from here? Working across the room from my BF WFH and he looks up and says “We don’t have any black creatives on our team and we need it. Do you know any copywriters?” Then I got an email from a friend - “Hey im hiring for a graphic designer. Everyone’s white and of the same mind. Do you know any POC graphic designers?” Is this our time? Is the time for being Black In Advertising now?!

I applied to Deloitte for the Workday Solutions Designer role. Went through the entire interview process (3 rounds). Within 3 weeks, I heard from the recruiter saying that they wanted to give me an offer.
However, my current company was their client and as per their contract, they wanted me to tell my company before they could hand out the offer letter. I agreed, but asked for more information about the contract (start date, salary, etc). Since then I've been ghosted. Whats going on?

My company loves hiring designers with no relevant experience to the projects we’re working on. Why do they do this to me. We hired a new designer who has no experience with web design. And somehow they think this new hire can be helpful to me. How? 🤔

A good friend of mine graduated from Parsons this past summer, has degrees in Journalism and French, is a talented photographer and designer (which I feel I have a pretty decent eye for after working at a design-driven branding agency for half a decade). I am in a design/production role at a mid-sized agency. We currently only have one person on the digital team doing UX. I recently presented my manager with a proposal for a new position, UI Designer, that I want to move into.

Any advice for a designer trying to pivot into a marketing role? I’m from a boutique agency with 6 creatives. So I’ve definitely rolled up my sleeves to launch a few campaigns. Not just the visuals, but selecting tactics, building out the campaigns, and working in marketing automation platforms.

I’ve got an interview for a UI designer position on Tuesday and meeting with the senior developer first. What can I expect from this first round? It’s been so long since I’ve interviewed
