Making a move from Deloitte US to Deloitte Canada due to visa issues. I am a third year consultant who was up for SC this year with great mid year review. HR is asking salary and role expectations. Would it be fair to ask for a SC role with a pay of 90k CAD ?

At BCG, do you really make like 160k (or whatever the consultant salary is) ~2 years after joining as an associate?

Is it a bad idea to buy a house as a relatively new consultant (2nd year post-MBA) and sole provider? I’d like to understand when others felt they were ready to become home owners while in consulting.

LCOL area so mortgage will be around ~500k on ~150K comp, 100K in savings, and 70K in student loan debt (planned 5-year payoff plan). Numbers seem to work, but the biggest fear me is unemployment and potential relocation for industry exit (unless similar consulting role at a different firm).

I feel like I made the worst mistake of my life joining consulting out of school a year ago. I was so excited for it initially. Now all of the benefits like travel, career progression, compensation growth, networking, on-site training and development, and more are gone or severely reduced. Is there any way to get out without completely restarting? I have worked as a Controller in industry (furloughed due to Covid). Decided to move to public accounting since most companies want you to have experience in public accounting and CPA, to get you hired as a Controller. I have neither.
