How do you navigate a working relationship where someone in a different department but at the same director level as you consistently assumes seniority over you? The thing is they're great and can be an ally, but they're frequently shutting down the team's work and having a negative impact on the team's morale and output.

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) One strategy that came up was having the applicant do 90 minutes of cold calling into real prospects with the hiring manager coaching.

Anyone have experience making a lateral move within your agency from one department to another, where there is some overlap in skills but different responsibilities? Can someone tell me if a HRBP III is more senior level than a HRBP I? I’ve never really dealt with those titles so I am a little confused!

I just started with a company as an HR Generalist. Within the 3 weeks of being there, my boss’s boss left, and today I found out my boss gave notice. HR is not valued at the company and it’s disheartening to know I was hired into a mess. I am now actively looking but how do I explain to other employers why I am actively looking and what do I put on my resume? I have never had to deal with this before.
