CROSS POST: Anyone traveled to India and back recently? I’m traveling to Bombay for a week. Besides RT-PCR & air suvidha items, what else is required to get there and back? I’m a USC traveling on United & fully vaccinated. Any precautions to keep in mind? 🇮🇳🇺🇸 TIA.
What is salary range for experienced Tax MD from Big 4 at mid-tier firm like BDO? Anyone made the move? Regrets? Recommendations? advice for offer negotiations?
Empty middle ORD SFO - yay snow!
Anybody flying Delta delayed in Minneapolis?
Working on a long-haul flight: 5 mins booting laptop and finding the right doc, 2 mins working on it, 20 mins cleaning up desktop, 7 hours gazing out the window and making new life resolutions.
For MBA adcoms, is it better to work across many companies in a similar function (i.e. Strategy) or to work across multiple functions in one large F100 company?
On this flight there is a Hasidic Jew, a super traditional Muslim couple, and a weird rancher / cowboy (though he could just be a hipster...unconfirmed) Kind of cool all these ppl can fly together!
What are some of the biggest factors you all consider when leaving for another Big 4/equivalent competitor. I’m expecting a salary increase of 30% to 35% and slightly worse 401k match benefits.
Speaking of finding out consulting isnt for you...I had NO clue that getting staffed was so hard. I thought it was more about juggling relationships, not desperately searching for an open project
1. Is hsa tied to firm or individual? 2. Do I need to initiate a 401k prior to leaving a firm or can I do it afterwards?
Got scheduled for a random MD chat tomorrow. Wish me luck. My heart just sank, but I knew this might happen due to lower chargeability. Ironic since yesterday I dreamt I got laid off.
How bad does it look to reschedule an interview due to a "client workshop"? The interview is going to be highly technical and I'm just not going to be ready.
Aside from validating that I have the skillset, is there great value in attaining a PMP for a ~8yr Advisory consultant?
is anyone even sponsoring H1B or processing green cards anymore? Especially interested in FAANG.
And the AG was fired because she didn't agree with the dictator. This is insane. Oh and she is a "traitor".
Best consulting firms in South Carolina?
For people that WFH, what's your set up like? Tired of working on my kitchen counter. Might invest a desk and nice monitor.
To the cat lady who thought it was a good idea to bring your pet ON the flight from Newark to NOLA, you're insane. And your cat hates you for this.
I recently started at a larger software company as an AE. As I’m getting more into the process, I’m finding things odd. Like, cold calls and emails are metrics I’m judged on more than closed won business. I know that’s part of the job but it seems strange I’m judged on it so heavily. And, I seem to be the first real outside AE hire as everyone else seems to have been promoted up from SDR roles, including all of my direct management. I’m questioning if I made the right move. Stick it out or look?
How much heads up to you give a firm for a semi emgrecy medical procedure? I had a gallbladder attack and my doctor wants to remove it. It's not quite emgrecy surgery but not something they want to wait too long. My firm knows I was sick a day this week. How much heads up should I give them that I will be having surgery and might be out for a few days?
Hi Tax Bowlers, I'm an experienced associate (2yrs) in a Big 4 Transfer Pricing division. I have reached a point in my career where I am considering taking up a professional certification. Several colleagues recommended taking up either ACCA or CFA, however, I see little connection between these certifications and the work that I am currently doing, and what I plan to do in the future. What would you guys suggest? Would it be detrimental to my career if I did not take up any certifications?
I’m about halfway through my first MBA accounting course and really struggling to grasp/understand concepts. Any suggestions for resources that helped any of you?
Laid off or Furloughed? Live in the NY Area? DM me for a part-time role to help pay the bills!
Can anyone help me with a referral Kearney ?
Time to exit PA. I'm holding two offers that's very different from each other. One is a lateral move to a position with about 30% pay bump; the career path is to grow eventually to controller in a finance/accounting department of an education organization. The other one is about 50% pay and title bump to manager in industry where the ceiling will be capped at VP of tax. What do you think?
I graduated with my bachelor's in HRM and I'm wondering if there are any certifications or trainings I could do before I lock down on the SHRM-CP. I recently became HIPAA certified for my company and that got me thinking about what else I could do to add to my resume. Looking for good stepping stone certificates.

You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
Is it better to be a visual designer or UX Designer? (Considering career progression, salary, etc)
How much do you guys have saved for retirement? Turning 30 soon and had a mini-crisis on If I’m saving enough. For reference, I have $110k in a Roth IRA (did 401k rollover during MBA) and $10k in a 401k. Saw articles that show 1-1.5x salary in retirement by 30, which makes me feel behind the curve?
What’s the max that someone who is making $2600 a month post tax should spend on rent? Context: sibling is starting out in commission role so this number is the minimum they’d be making, they have emergency fund already, car/insurance paid for by work. They don’t know anyone in the area to live with but studios/1B in decent areas start at $1300
Might be silly question but does anyone ever travel to a sales tax-free state to buy there watch lol?
I am going to spend close to 5k on furniture shopping. Thinking about getting chase sapphire preferred which is offering 60k bonus on 4k spent. I will be able to meet their criteria. What are other cards are out there which I can think of to get better reward on my spending
