Any foreign attorneys feeling lost while working towards their master’s of law in US and working towards getting bar admission? Being an Indian-trained attorney, I still await to sit for bar (this year delay pandemic) but always curious about how things turn out for other foreign attorneys here on F1 visa.

Is reading through Fishbowl billable time?
You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Currently, I have an employee who is struggling. Missing deadlines, making false promises to clients etc. Recently, I sat in one of his development sessions with his manager, and I was shocked at how disengaged he was and how junior he actually vs what we pay him. After some further investigation, we are afraid he lied on his resume and how his experience. How do you go about a situation such as this? This is a first for me.
Hi Everyone! I’m torn between which HR certification to pursue (SHRM-SCP or SPHR). Which one would you recommend and why?
Can we stop attaching unpublished cases yet?
I am a first year associate in Biglaw. I have been put on an improvement plan to increase my billable hours. My supervisors have commented that have not been getting work because I need to improve my efficiency. I am willing to do what it takes to improve but wonder how to improve my hours when no one seems willing to give me a second chance.
How much nonbillable time is too much? I’m a second associate at a midsized firm and I have 30-50 non billable hours each month. An associate at another firm told me this was really high. Thoughts?
Curious about non-US attorneys: are you working the crazy hour weeks most of us in the US do? Or are your weeks closer to 40 hours? I hear a lot about the working hour caps, vacation requirements, etc in Europe/Canada. Curious if that flows into legal practice... or if it gets ignored. To clarify—I’m talking about BigLaw. I’m sure there are smaller firms with reasonable hours, the same exists in the US.
How many billable hours did you record in March? I had to get an early start on quarantine because a co-worker tested positive for COVID-19. So, I’ll start, 155.
Haven’t heard from my supervising partner in about two weeks. Everyone else I know (outside of my firm) has had their SP reach out to them. Am I wrong for waiting to hear from her? I have work (cont.)
Theory: equity/managing partners are about to be vaccinated and as cases/deaths (rightfully/thankfully) plunge very quickly, we’ll be back in the office in no time
Has anyone ever transitioned from law to investment banking or a similar field? Looking for helpful advice for a new law grad seeking opportunities in IB.
I'm always in awe of how finite life really is and how we spend so much of it doing things that don't really matter.
Name 1 thing you like about your firm/job and name 1 thing you wish was different (and how you’d do it differently?)
Stupid question guys.. what does it mean to have market caps north of $100million? Is it saying anything above 100m?
Hi, Does anyone have any data points on how long the current GC process is taking from the time you file the I485 application? I have a friend who filed back in October 2020 and had her GC by May 2021. Trying to understand if that was an anomaly or if 7-8 months is the current average. Any input would be appreciated.

After three years on a project, I'm about rolling off. My client manager called me aside and said he wanted to talk to me as a friend. Basically said I've coasted for 3 years...contd
So what was the text message that got them fired? https://goingconcern.com/kpmg-u-k-s-whatsapp-fiasco-claims-two-more-partners/
Really want to exit consulting, but all I have experience in is making PowerPoint slides for our cloud practice… Where should I look to apply? I don’t actually have any tech skills (besides the aws ccp) but I really want to leave consulting for something with better wlb.
Hi, I'm looking for a job change in Business Analysis, I've 2 years experience in a product based startup. Please let me know if any openings for the same. Thanks.
Can someone explain private cloud vs on prem? Looking at articles online and honestly I can't tell the difference. Both seem like a client uses their own infrastructure.
First trip to Atlanta in a couple of weeks for a training. Staying at the Westin Peachtree. Anyone have recommendations for fun places to drink/things to do?
Well, I’m out of advertising. After getting laid off on April 30th I held out in hopes I’d find something “cool” and be able to continue dressing like a clown for work (I’m heavily tattooed and have my septum pierced). I took a job as an EA in real estate investment banking and while I do feel relieved to not have to keep up the “cool” agency culture, I’m a little nervous to return to buttoned up corporate America. I know I’m good at my job, but unemployment Swiss cheese brain is real!
I got an offer from a company but I still have my final interview with google. They want an answer today but I’ve already delayed giving an answer. I haven’t told them I still have another interview. How do I delay giving an answer again? Or should I accept and then if I get the offer from google then turn it down?
Currently on the bench. If I put in my resignation for a month from now will they ask me to leave ASAP? I don’t wanna have them staff me and then have to turn around a leave first week on a project
Is 82.5K a good salary for new grad in nyc in industry? With everyone in strategy consulting and ib I feel like I am “behind”.
Anyone been fired for low performance as a young lawyer? How did you deal with it and move on?
Anyone know the cutoff date for utilization? Asking for a friend who plans to slack off after that date.
Why did Deloitte’s federal practice have layoffs? Given that the clients are large government entities. I can understand it happening in commercial but federal makes no sense
