I have been asked to write a SMART goal for the upcoming year. Any sample ideas would be appreciated. My true goal is to update my resume and search for a new position. :)
Can anyone give insight to what the day to day looks like for a workforce analyst and what skills would make them successful?
(Backstory) I was interviewing for an HR Business Analyst role with a company, I didn’t get the job but they referred me to a “Strategic Workforce planning Analyst” role they have open bc it would be a better fit. I’m an HR Analyst and have been working with HR metrics for a few years, but I’m not entirely sure what that transition would look like.
3rd year immigration attorney at a boutique firm. Got 2 year experience in drafting PI demand, motions and other pleadings as well. Making $85k in a big city. My greatest weakness is I’m not a native speaker, so I don’t see myself in court one day. Thinking of leaving. Should I be content with my current salary? I wonder what are the possibilities for my career development. I appreciate any ideas and advice!
I’m considering making a career switch to HR (in Canada). Do I need to get any professional certifications or go back to school?
I’ve been in my current position (Bookkeeper) for 4 years now. I’m highly interested in taking the PHR, and I’m wondering if I would qualify for the 4 year HR professional job requirement to be eligible to test for the certificate. I work for a small business, therefore I do all the on boarding paperwork/payroll. Any advice is appreciated.
Recruiters!! Is reaching out to the recruiter who organised the interviews after a few days (since no feedback was given as of yet) a sign of desperation? And would that affect salary negotiations? Asking for a friend !
Is it worth it to take a lower paying job to get more experience? Or will I regret my decision? 3rd year litigator who has never seen the inside of a courtroom . Currently at an AMlaw200 and considering taking the leap..
For those of you in global@companies, how do you track gender diversity in applicants outside the US?
I hate the billable hour, the practice of law, and myself. I started out doing ID for a few years. Hated it. Transitioned to an in house gig, which was mostly collections work. Loved the work, but the environment was toxic. Now I do administrative law and I'm back to the billable hour. I live in the middle of nowhere, so I need to find a remote position. I currently make $110k. The jobs in my area pay half what I make. I wish I could find an alternative. I have no time for my family. I give up.
I believe there are good sales people and bad sales people. I also believe there are great sales people with shit territories, and shit sales people with great territories. Agree or disagree and why?
16 years with the same company and as of yesterday I am seeking a new job. My industry is very niche but my skills are immense and could easily cross over into other area of sales. Going to spend the next fees days researching and see where I can fit in.
For those supervising Black lawyers like myself and/or Black staff, please consider reading this article. We're going through a lot this week (but not only this week). "Your black employees are exhausted.
Your black employees are scared.
Your black employees are crying in between meetings.
Your black employees have mentally checked out.
Your black employees are putting on a performance."
When will the older generations realize they’re losing this battle on remote work? People don’t stay 40 years at the same place anymore because it’s “safe”. People will just leave nowadays. And it’s exactly what people are doing. My company can’t hire ANYONE because we don’t offer a hybrid even. On the flip side, we’re losing people in masses at this point and can’t fill any of the roles because the owner (who works remotely) won’t allow it. But “no one wants to work”. Biggest lie of 2022.
My paralegal is awesome and I want to get her a Starbucks gift card and cool mug for Christmas. Anyone know of cute non-cheesy paralegal mugs?
Am I too naive to believe the up-and-coming generation of lawyers will change the profession for the better? I’m talking less anxiety/depression and more mindfulness/kindness?
Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.
If you leave the US because of failed H1B attempt with a L1 visa, how hard is it to move companies under the latter? If you decide to leave your employer, what is the process like to keep the visa?
How did you know you needed a divorce?
I think we all love our dogs a little much lol. I lost a FB friend because I post to many dog photos. Seriously.
I'm working at vestas, having 10+ years of experience in product design (Mechanical) and development. Can any one please refer me ?

What restaurant chain is better in your opinion? I am partial to Applebee's but I seem to be in the minority here.
Seeking some input: I am a client service manager (aka team lead) at a regtech company. I manage a small team of analysts who service the Helpdesk for a product that helps banks/ hedge funds do their regulatory reporting. I’ve been doing research and I’ve been seeing salaries ranging from 65k to 130k. I offer an MBA and a year of experience as the client service manager. What would you say is fair for this role?
Girl I’m seeing broke it off randomly - citing lack of effort. Next day - she tries to come back but a friend sees her on a dating site the same evening 🥴 what to do? Am I being played?
Are there companies in the US who are recruiting H1B's for insurance consulting opportunities? It is proving to be a challenge switcing with many companies not keen on H1 despite having openings.
Getting out of tech risk for a 70% increase in TC. For all the college hires that got mislead by how risk consulting was sold to them there’s hope out there. Keep pushing 🥺
How and when do you find time/ ways to connect with your partner while having kids?.. We have a 6 month old and I just went back to work and feel like we’re always on and doing something- drop offs, pick ups, working, commuting, cooking, caring for child. Not enough hours in the day!!! We’re so tired all the time and not been very intimate/ affectionate.
Pretty much only haven’t quit my job I’m miserable in because the money is better than anywhere else for comparable roles. I feel trapped by the money as I need to pay student loans and mortgage. Any words of advice?
What’s the average age to make it to Manager at a Big4 TAS? I am currently a last year Senior (27yo) and was wondering whether I’d be delayed if I don’t get promoted this year.
I am given a designation in Nagarro which is on upper experience range for that designation. I am requesting change to the upper band but it’s not been entertained. What’s the best way to get it.
Senior 2 here. I’m trying to exit from audit into a Sr. revenue accounting role but I’m having trouble sealing the deal. It looks like most companies trying to fill these sort of positions don’t want someone without operational experience - or want someone willing to take a title demotion. I’m really demotivated as it seems like I’m over qualified for a staff role but under qualified for sr. Rev.
Is there anywhere I can get a pre-made charcuterie board near Arlington. Hosting a dinner party on Saturday and don’t have time to put one together myself
